Ladd, to provide “safe and sound” shot for the local market. The first cartridges were made of lead and cast offs from barrels of artillery pieces then in use at Fort Dearborn. By 1839 the company had been organized as the Western Reserve Ammunition Company and began making rounds of all sorts - small arms projectiles such as balls, peas, or flour-shot; cannonballs; and rifle bullets. In 1846 the company became known as The Armoury Company and changed its name to The Pataskala Rifle & Pistol Company after purchasing land east of town on which they built a rifleshipyard and magazine capable of holding twenty-four guns per day for loading and unloading supplies needed for their ammunition production. In 1861 the armory was moved to its current location on State Street near what is now the high school where it continues to produce rounds of all types today. Pataskala is a town in Trumbull County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Trumbull County. The first permanent settler in what is now Pataskala was Nicholas John Crowley on July 10, 1800. He and his family were the first white people to reside in what is now Trumbull County when it was part of Preble County. Two years later, he married Anna Purdy and had six children: four sons and two daughters. Nicholas John Crowley died on October 18, 1802 aged 38 years; his wife Anna survived him with seven children including their father's second wife Sarah Ann (Crowley) Patten who also resided in town at that time. In 1810-11 three brothers - John and Jameson Patten (the two older brothers), David Allyn (the son of Jameson Patten), and David Crosby - set out from Lebanon Township near modern day Webster to take up land east of where Trumbulltown now stands. They named their new township after one of their own oldest brothers - Daniel Conway - who had emigrated there earlier that year with his family from Connecticut via New York City on a ship called "Mayflower". The town site was surveyed by Captain George Donahue on November 15, 1812 and laid out as a village by commissioners Samuel Bowers and Jonathan Edwards on December 12th following which construction began.. In less than one year from its creation, Pataskala had a courthouse, schoolhouse & [a] store& post office! Ira O'Neill served as surveyor for Trumbull Township until 1830 when he resigned to become state surveyor for Summit County Captain George Donahue conducted surveys for Summit County from 1815 until 1830 when he became supervisor of Indian operations in Clinton Township under Governor Robert Yates In 1830-31 Captain George Donahue organized the Village Battalion #1 under Lieutenant Colonel Ebenezer Chauncy which patrolled the surrounding countryside for parties of Indians looking for land to settle or trade with them later renamed Company H In 1840 an act was passed allowing African Americans to serve temporarily in local militias during the Mexican American War but this rule did not apply to white men & women living within townships so many black men enlisted & served as private soldiers with companies composed mostly of Irish immigrants known as 'Pioneers'. After Mexican America War ended most black soldiers returned home but some continued service until 1865 . One such individual was Solomon Page who fought against Confederate forces during the Battle Of Perryville . Many Black veterans like Solomon Page went into business after Waterloo Battlefield losing much wealth but enjoying good health ever since

After the disaster, many farmers abandoned Pataskala and began moving into Athens County; however, a few people kept up agriculture here until after World War II when industry took over. In 1951, Pataskala became part of Athens-Clarke County while still keeping its own government; it has since undergone various changes including becoming an all-ages community and expanding its services to include mental health care, environmental education, economic development programming and more since then.
