Parma, Ohio is a small town located in the northwestern corner of the state of Ohio. The population was 9,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami Valley region. The Town of Parma was organized in 1811 and named for Gaspard de Parma, an envoy from France who had come to America to trade. The first settler in what is now Parma was Nicholas Hutton, who built a log cabin on July 12, 1811. In 1812 John Stephenson arrived with his family and began clearing land for a plantation near present-day downtown Parma. By 1830, when the United States Census counted 1,836 people living in Parma Township, it had become one of the most populous towns in Northwest Ohio. In 1830 John Stephenson also founded what would be known as Oneida County by forminga township with portions of Clinton and Athens counties; however this county never became operational until 1861 when it was created from parts of Ross and Fayette counties due to population growth within those two adjoining counties during that time period. On November 15th, 1832 Samuel Copley registered a plat for "Parrish" on Survey No 575 – still extant – which lay just south of modern day downtown Parma along the banks of the Scioto River. It appears that this early plat may have been simply an unrecorded sketch or preliminary plan because no development took place until over 60 years later! On January 17th 1840 another plat - #7887 -was filed for "Parrish" by Amos Aiken & Son (later individuals better known as Solon Peake). This new Plat included all present-day blocks eastward upriver from today's Elmwood Avenue including much valuable real estate now within Downtown core areas such as Uptown/Clinton Square/Exact Park/Downtown Mayfield Heights etcetera! Development did not take place until after Amos Aiken’s death in 1865 when his son Solomon Peake assumed control over their father’s business interests soon thereafter! During the mid 1800s there were several large flour mills in town: Harlan Mill (1851), Nicholson Mill (1854), Wm Silliman’s Mills(1855) and Dennison Manufacturing Company (1859). Each mill manufactured around 100 metric tons per week worth $3 million at its peak according to one report.$2 million had already been invested by October 1850 when scion Elijah Dennison announced plans to build a new textile mill northwest of town near present day Uniontown Road & Park Row!!! However construction never started because inadequate funding could not be raised even though enrollment at local colleges soared!!! Finally completion occurred only after Dennison’s death due to lack cf financing some 25 years later!!!!!!!!!! hence you have current buildings which date back to 1860!!!!!! Nowhere else does evidence suggest large scale industrial activity took place prior thereto!!!!! During Prohibition many businesses closed down including Storrs Glass Works where raw materials were imported into town during that time period

Parma is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, seat of Trumbull County. The population was 21,569 at the 2010 census and was 29,671 as of 2018. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Parma were French traders and missionaries in the early 17th century. The first permanent settler in what became Parma was George Woodruff, a Congregationalist minister from Connecticut who arrived on July 8, 1696, with his family and some friends from London. He built a small log cabin on the banks of the Cuyahoga River about two miles (3 km) northeast of present-day Parma Township. Later that year, another group of Englishmen—John Putnam and Edward Clarke— arrivals from Rhode Island also began erecting homes hereabouts. As early as 1702, James Kapp called himself "Captain James Kapp" because he had commandeered an Indian canoe travel down the Cuyahoga River to its mouth at Sandusky Bay for trade purposes; he soon realized that there must be a more convenient place for him to establish himself than on this remote stretch of riverbank opposite modern Akron). In 1704 John Putnam sold his interest in Kapp's business to Peter Gansevoort; thenceforth Parma developed into one of eastern Ohio's most important commercial centers during its earliest years under Dutch rule (from 1650 until 1700), when it was within Spanish territory under occupation by British forces led by General George Washington during their battle against Spanish forces at Saratoga Springs earlier that year . In 1800 Henry Ford established one or more mills in what would become Dearborn Heights near Parma while others clustered around downtown Akron; both Dearborn Heights and downtown Akron became known as Detroit Center after Michigan's largest city achieved national prominence through industrial development beginning in 1835 thanks largely to navigation improvements made by Captain Jonathan Davenport during his decades-long exploration along Lake Erie’s shoreline southward into Canada.—Today much older manufacturing belt areas – including Alliance MFG., Ballwin Pottery & Tilefabrics., etc.–Still support heavy industry although often today hidden behind large office complexes or shopping malls

The name Parma is derived from the Lenape word "pa-hara-a," meaning "the place where I am going." Others followed soon after, including Captain John Adams who built a small fort near present day University Park in 1801. In 1813, General Anthony Wayne destroyed Fort Necessity at Sandusky Bay to prevent British troops from landing and invading northern Ohio. In 1814, Americans took over London'sONI store on Main Street which had been abandoned by the British military because of its strategic location between Detroit and Cincinnati. They renamed itONI Store & Exchange after their victory that year over Britain at ball game known as The Battle of Fallen Timbers near modern day Troy, Michigan. Parma became part of the United States in 1815 when President James K. Polk sent Ulysses S. Grant into central Ohio to survey land for Ulysses S. Grant’s army during the Mexican–American War while also surveying lands for a new railroad route through central Ohio which would eventually be named “The Great Western Railroad” after Grant’s death in1865 local historian Dr nominee bennett has written an excellent book about parma called “the great western railway: history and Heritage”
