Oregon’s history with firearms is extensive. The state has been home to rifles and shotguns for over a century, starting with the 1875 founding of the Oregon Rifle & Shotgun Club by two early settlers. Gun barrel production in Oregon began in the early 1800s, with many smelters located around Salem and Portland. In 1898, the first law regulating firearm possession was passed in Oregon. This law mandated that all individuals must have a license to purchase or possess firearms, and it also banned any type of firearm from being carried on public property without a license. A few years later, on January 1st, 1901, Oregon became an out-of-state member of the National Firearms Act (NFA). As part of this act, Oregon became one of the first states to require registration of all handguns owned by citizens. The following year saw several major events in Oregon’s gun barrel history. On October 8th, 1903, rifleman George Armstrong Custer was killed during an engagement at Little Bighorn River near Cheyenne Wells; as a result of this event and others like it throughout the decade, gun barrel production declined significantly in Oregon. However, it resumed thereafter until World War II when it decreased again due to rationing policies set by then-President Franklin D. Roosevelt

Oregon, Ohio (formerly Oregon County) is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 14,527. The county was formed on March 15, 1807 from part of Scioto County and named for Captain John C. Frémont, who explored portions of what is now Oregon and Ohio during the California Gold Rush. The first permanent settlers in what is now Oregon County were Hugh Campbell and his family who arrived in 1788 from Scotland via Dublin on HMS Beagle under Captains David Thompson and James Cook. They built a log cabin near present-day Portsmouth on the Scioto River; it still stands today as a museum property known as Campbell House Museum #1. A second group settled in northeastern Ohio around 1800 by members of the Lewis family who came overland from Kentucky via Cumberland Gap south to Virginia City, Nevada Territory where they founded the town of Cincinnati in 1802; they renamed it Dayton after their home state Delaware County). In 1807, part of Scioto County including parts of modern-day Toledo and Cleveland was added to form this new county while also incorporating the villages of Willowick (now Northfield), Lebanon (now Zanesville), Xenia (now Muskegon Heights), Marysville (now Marysville Heights), Bargrave (Now Richboro), Goshen (Now Defiance Township). The name change reflected changes taking place throughout America due to gold rushes – captain John C. Frémont led one such rush when he explored eastern Oregon in 1848 during his exploration campaign known as "Cleveland's Fortnight."1 "Oregon" derived from Spanish "Querétaro" meaning "between two rivers". This was because Captain Francisco de la Hoz y Costilla discovered gold near Querétaro Creek east ofpresent-day Toledo on November 8th 1789 during his expedition led by Lieutenant Alonso De La Hoz with 4 Spanish soldiers and 2 Indians - henceforth calledlos Burgos--while traveling along the lower course Of The Maumee River near present day Cleveland。 lieutenant De La Hoz returned to Spain with an extensive amount Of Gold but left behind 3 men Who traveled 800 Miles For treasure Discovering In that area Which later became Polk County And one man Named Gomez WHO FOUND GOLD NEAR WOODWARD NATIONWIDE ALSO CALLED OSIRIS BUT REALLY LOS ANGELES COUNTY
Oregon, Ohio was one of the U.S. states created on July 3, 1801. The state was named for George Washington and it comprised the eastern half of what is now Ohio. Oregon was part of the Northwest Territory until it became a state on November 3, 1818.
