When General George Washington arrived in America to take command of troops during the Revolutionary War, he selected Ohio as his location for military headquarters because of its strategic location between East Coast colonies and Canada- which at that time was under French control- thus giving Ohio some claim to fame among American colonists throughout North America! During Reconstruction following the Civil Rights Movement (1860-1912), many African Americans migrated from southern states to northern states such as California and Illinois hoping to find opportunities like those available in these newly minted democracies- only to be met with rejection or discrimination where they resided/worked (the Jim Crow South). This experience led many African Americans who hadigrated from rural backgrounds along Pennsylvania's eastern border town of Youngstown to migrate westward into what is now Midwest Indiana; this process is often referred to as Appalachia migration due to Appalachian Mountains located adjacent thereto!
