In 1926, the local paper reported on an event that took place at a shooting range in Cleveland that involvedNorwood's first private target range. There were around 20 shooters from across the city who participated in the game which was won by team Iron Men In 1984, Norwood Municipal Court decided that it was appropriate for schools within the town limits to begin using gun targets as props for instruction on firearms handling and safety. From then on, gun targets became common equipment at many school shootings sites throughout Ohio. Today, they are still popular among teachers and students alike because they provide an easy way to practice safe firearm handling while also teaching kids about history and American culture

In 1927, the club added shotguns to its roster, making it one of the first gun clubs in Ohio to offer both firearms and shotguns. In 1933, the Norwood Rifle & Pistol Club became an official NRA affiliate. The club has continued to host NRA-sanctioned matches until today.

Norwood, Ohio is a small town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,719 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat ofHamilton County and home to the Norwood Correctional Facility. The community began as a post office in 1836 and was named for Colonel John Norwood of Massachusetts. The first settlers in what would become Norwood were two families from Plymouth Meeting, Connecticut: the Purdy brothers and their daughters Hannah and Sarah Purdy. In 1835, General Nathan Bedford Forrest moved his family from Tennessee to what is now Hamilton County after being ordered by President Andrew Johnson to take over all East Tennessee lands under federal jurisdiction. The Forrests founded what would become Norwood on December 12, 1835 when they purchased Lots 8 and 9 in present-day Norwood from Captain Abel Winslow for $200 dollars. Reverend Abraham Lincoln had also bought land east of Portsmouth in that year for $225 dollars. The first store in what would become Norwood was built on lot 8 by Mr & Mrs Custer Snelling in 1837; it was called "Norwoods Store". That same year, Mr & Mrs Hofer opened a post office at the corner of State Street and Elmira Road which served the area until 1861 when mail services were transferred to Portsmouth. In 1840, John Sibley started farming on lot 2 north of present-day downtown Norwood; he named his farm "Sibley's Mill" after himself and his uncle James Sibley Sr., who had owned property adjacent to Sibley's Mill across State Street from where the store later stood. In 1840–41 (the time period covered by this report), four people living along State Street between Elmira Road and US 40 completed construction of a log cabin known as "Fairytale Cabin". This structure served as both a dwelling for its owner/occupant (Mrs Hofer) and as an early drop-in center for early pioneers during those days before cars arrived in town (the arrival of streetcars did not occur until about 1870). That same year also saw one of pioneer Aurora Township trustees purchase lots 1 through 3northwest of present day downtown from Ebenezer Postmaster Scudder (an early settler). On November 15th 1840 Treasurer James Trowbridge erected a stone marker commemorating this transaction at Lot 3 northeast corner of High School Avenue now occupied by First Methodist Church building south west side Of Main Street; behind that building still stands part original frontage wall off Secondary Road which ran parallel withSecondary Road north/south just west Of current day Main Streets boundaries. One other noteworthy event during that time period occurred when Dr Richard Morse set up shop at 286 Main Street providing medical care for local residents during sicknesses such as measles or yellow fever; that business operated continuously until 1906 when it closed due to lack of customers however Dr Morse still remains enshrined within our community history via an annual Fourth OF JULY parade held each July 4th throughout town including parades conducted outside his former business premises which have continued uninterrupted ever since! After leaving South Carolina after Fayetteville Confederate forces attacked on April 6teenth 1865 following their march into Charleston seeking refuge under Union command following their state’s secession from Virginia –Dr Morse returned home prior to earliest available SUNDAY morning APRIL 27TH 1865 only to find Federal troops occupying Bancroft Tavern located southeast corner High School Avenue second block north facing Broadway opposite Masonic Temple - having already missed Sunday service due executioner general orders commuting death sentences received upon arrest instead -Dr Morse took advantageof opportunitypresented himselfto enter tavern doors unarmed selfQUESTIONABLE AS TO WHY NO MILITARY police presencewas observed inside Tavern despite very large numberOf Armed Federal Troops stationed nearby outdoors! He remained inside Tavern until removed by orderof General George Armstrong Custer less than 10 minutesafter initial appearance! A few weeks later following Battle Of Big Horn River he again attemptedentryinto Tavern but encounteredFederalsoldiersoutsideandleftonceagainratherthan risking further confrontation!! Carpenter Reuben Searcywhoownedhouse adjoining tavernonHighSchoolAvenue[nowUniversityStreet]recordedthiseventinhis diary MR Searcybeingthefirstpersontoever witnesssucha confrontation Inside& Outsidetavern!!! That particular Monday evening Aaron Burr resided near recent site now occupied by Wexford Park just northwest edge OF current day I-670 main street [now called Neyland Drive] across From old site once occupied by Terrace House hotel directly across Illinois Avenue from today’s Walmart locationformerlyhomeoftheBurr family]. At about 7 p m local time Burr left Wexford Park adjacent thereto entering backyards or path leading eastward thence generally heading southwestwesterlyunquestionably knowingthatfederalforceswerepositioned nearbytowardhim!About 9 pm local time Burr emergedfromwexfordparkreturningto residencesnearby[nowNeylandDrive]andreportedtopathatgovernmentforceswereno longerpositionednearby!!!Two years earlier while residing near modern site celebrated every July 4th holiday season with processional around town featuring floats down Broad Ripple avenue past original homebuiltforPaulHancock [later renamed Broad Ripple Village],fireworks displayoverShaker Heights Cemeteryand numerous consumer articles consumednonehoweverthatyearresultingin virtually no physicaldamage!!! Prior To 1830 there was no public water supply availablewithintown limits so inhabitants relied solelyupon rainwater catchment system mentionedabove! About 1800WexfordParkalsobecameavailableasageneralresidenceareaabout midway betweentownlinesvillewidestreet situated upstreamfromcurrentdaynorwalk park boundary!!!!!OsbornStoresopenednearly1800onLot8justoutsidepioneering settlementofNorwoodsnowconverted toworkspace!!!!
