Norwood, Ohio is a town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 12,854 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Norwood were Peter and Priscilla White who arrived in 1811. They built a log cabin on the west side of town and named it "Norwood." In 1815 they sold their land to John Fenton who founded the town of Norwood on what is now Interstate 81 north of Akron. In 1830, Hennepin Township was formed from parts of Medina and Geauga counties. In 1836, Norwood became part of Chardon Township when that township was created from parts of Summit and Ashtabula counties. When statehood was granted to Ohio in 1881, Norwood became one of the towns in Medina County. The population had peaked at 14,872 during World War II when many people served in the military or worked for war production; however by 1950 it had declined to 11,902 due to loss of jobs in manufacturing and other recession-era industries. However during the 2000s it has slowly begun to grow again with new businesses opening up around shopping centers such as Checkers Casino and PNC Park which have drawn more people here for work than ever before. Today Norwood is home to a varietyof small businesses as well as larger ones like McDonald's and CVS Pharmacy which are all located within walking distance of one another making it easy for residents to get their needs met whether that be groceries or medical supplies

Norwood is a town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located in Stark County. As of the 2010 census, its population was 1,812. The community was named for John Norwood, a settler who arrived in 1796 and soon after founded the town on land that later became part of Green Township. Norwood was platted on March 2, 1814 by James White and others under the name "New Norwood." It received its present name from John Norwood, who donated land to the town and served as its first mayor. The town's first school was built in 1820 and it has since been housed in many different buildings including two churches (the First Baptist Church and Redeemer Lutheran) as well as several businesses including a bank, post office, grocery store, barber shop and garage. Norwood has developed into an important commercial center with multiple retail outlets along with several professional organizations including three banks (The Citizens Bank & Trust Company of Cleveland-Norwalk; The Kuhn Loeb Company-Norwalk; PNC Financial Services-Ohio City), four health care providers (Auromere Health Partners-Green Township; CareFirst Franklin Park Manor-Franklin Park; Stryker Medical Corporation-Langdale), two parks (Stark County Recreation Area - home to the Norwood Tennis Club - also home to numerous other sporting events) as well as various cultural activities such as art galleries and theaters. In addition to its role as a major shopping center for central Ohio, Norwood is also known for its annual Pumpkin Festival which takes place on October 24th each year.
Norwood was founded in 1797 by Nicholas Norwood and his wife, Ann. The town became a county seat in 1812 and was incorporated as a city in 1902. In 1925, the city merged with the neighboring village of Arlington to form the modern-day city of Norwood.
