In 1802, Ohio was admitted to the United States as a state; Delaware had been annexed by America that same year. In 1830, when Cleveland became an independent city, it annexed much of western Lucas County including parts of Norwalk and its neighbor Quaker Heights; however, most of those annexation boundaries remain unchanged to this day due to lack of evidence or agreement among historians about how those changes actually happened. On October 1, 1834 – one year after Cleveland's incorporation –Norwalk voted to become politically unincorporated because they felt that they were not being taken seriously as a community by their larger neighbors west of the river (Cleveland/Akron). After years remaining unincorporated even though many residents felt like it would only worsen their situation outside of Cleveland proper – which itself had seenDecline during early 1800s due largely to loss of manufacturing jobs associated with Detroit –Norwalk finally made itself officially residential territory by annexing part of neighboring Orchard Township effective January 1st 1861 following successful referendum held within days following township's incorporation into municipal limits without any input from residents themselves! This demonstrates just how important residential growth within municipal limits has become over time for communities such as Nor walk simply because there are more people who live within easy commuting distance for work or school opportunities than ever before! While some have argued that this annexation was motivated more out loyalty towards then current Mayor Michael Tell’s mayoral campaign promise to annex all municipalities east (of Lake Erie) if he were elected mayor rather then continue trying hard court case against earlier annexation attempt(this promise never materialized), I believe that it more likely reflects growing frustration among officials with both Oriole Township’s refusal(even through multiple petitions)to join forces with adjacent municipalities in recent years while also failing to make significant advancements towards upgraded infrastructure or services necessary for today’snorwalkeriansponsibility… For me it really speaks volumes about our current official government when we can barely keep up with demands placed upon us from our fellow citizens but still complain about anything happening “outside” our borders!

As part of efforts to modernize Norwalk during this time period, Mayor Artie Pratt unveiled plans for a new library which would become one of America's largest open-air libraries; construction began on that project in 1984 and finished soon after. During its early years as an incorporated municipality,Norwalk experienced some significant controversies; these included problems with zoning laws which led to several unsuccessful attempts at incorporation by residents themselves. However, over time these issues faded from public memory and Norwkson developed into one of Ohio's most successful cities under mayor Artie Pratt's leadership
