Norwalk, Ohio is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Ohio. The population was 6,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, OH metropolitan area. The Norwalk Knife Company was founded in 1892 by John A. Hargrave and his son Harry Hargrave. The company produced a variety of knives including hunting, fishing, and camping tools. In 1912, the company merged with another knife manufacturer to form the American Knife Company (AC). In 1978, AC merged with Victorinox AG to create Victorinox Corporation. Victorinox produces a wide range of knife products including hunting and outdoor gear, kitchen knives and Santoku swords. Additionally,Victorinox offers instruction on how to use their knives both indoors and outdoors as well as online resources for blade owners across North America.

Norwalk has been called "the birthplace of American liberalism." The area now known as Norwalk was first settled by Europeans in the late 17th century. In 1811, John Norris and his brother James founded what would become Norwalk Township. A post office was established in 1814 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. The township's first mayor was Moses Bachelder. In 1951, the town of Norwalk annexed the village of Muskegon Heights to its southside. The annexation caused much concern among residents becauseMuskegon Heights had a larger population than Norwalk and no municipal services were available to them. In 1957, however, Muskegon Heights voters approved an ordinance establishing a municipality with its own police department and fire department. Norwalk became an independent city on November 3, 1997 when it amalgamated with neighbouring Cleveland into the Greater Cleveland metropolitan area

Norwalk was a small community located in the southeastern corner of Ohio. It has been continuously inhabited since 1815 and its population reached 6,000 by 1890. The town was founded by Loyalists who fled the American Revolution. The first store in Norwalk opened in 1797. The town grew quickly because of its location on the route between Cincinnati and Toledo. In 1821, Norwalk became a post office and began to sell goods from its own store. By 1840, Norwalk had a school, two churches, three stores, a blacksmith shop, and a farmstead with six cows and twenty pigs. By 1860, Norwood had also become an established community with a bank and four churches. In that year, Norwood annexed part of neighboring Parkersburg to form what is now called Parkersburg-Norwalk Township. During the American Civil War (1861-1865), much of eastern Ohio suffered as Confederate forces fought for control of the area including Norwalk which surrendered on October 15th 1865 after five days of fighting. The town’s biggest accomplishment during its time as an incorporated municipality was building an Ottawa Railroad station which opened in 1875 and served as the village’s main artery until it was replaced by Interstate 43 in 1949. Other major accomplishments include being home to both the first high school in Ohio (Mount Vernon High School) and one of the few towns in Ohio to have both agricultural land (the former site of Carpentersville) AND residential properties (the communities now known as North Royalton Village). There are also several museums located within walking distance including: Mount Vernon Historical Society Museum; Northwest Branch Library; Butler County Heritage Museum; Gateway Open Air Museum; norwalk park - features many interesting buildings dating back to when this area was used for growing crops/livestock etc.; norwalk library - excellent resource for local history information
