Norton, Ohio is a small town in the northeastern part of the United States. It is located on the east bank of the river Miami near its confluence with the Scioto River. The town was first settled by pioneers in 1811 and became an important agricultural center during the late 19th century. In 1925, Norton incorporated as a village. In 1975, Norton was renamed Norton City after its mayor, who had been instrumental in making it a city. The downtown area is home to several historic districts, including the Armour House and Gadsden House. Other notable landmarks include Mount Vernon Cemetery and Nashua Street School which serve as local schools for children from neighboring villages.
