Norton is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 26,611 at the 2010 census. Norton is the county seat of Cuyahoga County. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Mequon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that would become Norton was first settled by families from Pennsylvania in 1798. In 1802, John Norton donated land to the township of Norton on which he built his home and two other homes for himself and his families. The name "Norton" was derived from the fact that Northeast Ridge Road ran through his property. In 1814, George Stephenson founded the town of Youngstown (now Warren) in what is now northeast Ohio as a result of an effort to create a new market for goods coming downriver from Canada. At first, youngstown relied heavily on slave labor to do its heavy manufacturing and operations; however, as transportation improved and prices fell for manufactured goods arriving by boat or train, Youngstown began to prosper commercially. By 1830, Youngstown had grown sufficiently large enough to warrant its own charter as a town with voting rights and an elected board of trustees. In 1836, when Euclid Avenue became known as “the GREATEST AVE OF ALL TIME” due largely to construction by Colonel Nicholaso Marchetti (1813-1890), much excitement ensued because it represented what had been long desired but never possible: A road linking Cleveland proper withashore resorts like Beachwood Heights and Babylon Hills east of downtown Cleveland - making unnecessary what had once been an arduous journey on horseback or foot across open countryside dominated by farmers hunting deer and wild hogs; finally enabling cars instead of horses or mules pull off onto Euclid Avenue at busy intersections just south of Lake Erie while pedestrians took advantage of curbside sidewalks running perpendicular to 7th Street - retail strips sprang up all along Euclid Avenue between Beachwood Heights Boulevard (just east of Uhrichs Park Cemetery)and Babylon Hills Boulevard paralleling beach Frontage Road (west sideof Richards Island). This once again madeCLEVELAND THE SOURCE OF AUTOMATION FOR INDUSTRY AS WE KNOW IT! In 1846 when CLEVELAND AND MICHIGAN WERE BOTH UNDER NATIONAL CONTROL AND ITS COAST LINE WAS CROSSED BY THE NEW OHIO STATE line - MARKETING WAS CREATED OVER EITHER WHALE FISHING OR PORTAGE BOATING IN THAT YEAR THANK TO JOHN NASH - AN ENGLISHman who OWNED AND OPERATED A CANAL FROM CLEVELAND TOWARDS MIAMI HEIGHTS ONTHE WATERFRONT OF STRATHMORE AREA BEFORE HIS DEATH IN 1850 - MANY BUSINESSES STARTED UP ALL OVER THE CITY SPREADING THE gospel OF GENERAL GOODNESS TO HER PEOPLE INCLUDING BARBARIAN HILLS WOMEN WHO WERE NOW GETTING RENT FROM THEIR MEN MUSTERS OUT THERE AT SEA! EARLY AMERICAN VISITORS RECORDED THIS AREA AS BEAUTIFUL AS ANYWHERE THEY SEEN ESPECIALLY WITH ERECTIONS LIKE HEAVY RAINFALLS THAT COULD BE seen FOR HOURS ON END BELOW LOW LEVELS SO YOU KNEW WHERE IT WAS NO MATTER HOW FAR AWAY YOU GOT FROM THE ROAD SIGNIFICANT LIGHTS SHOWING UP DURING EVEN MIDNIGHT! During World War II residents formed an emergency Committee called "The Citizen's Defence League Against Japanese aggression" which successfully petitioned local authorities for help during early 1942 when Japanese forces began moving into northeastern Ohio in preparation for their planned invasion

Norton, Ohio is a small town in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Norton was founded in 1810 by Captain James Wilkinson and his wife Nancy. In 1920 it became a municipal borough and in 1933 it became a city. The city was dissolved in 1968 and its land reassigned to other municipalities within Cuyahoga County. The first settler in Norton was Captain James Wilkinson who built a log cabin on the east side of the Scioto River in 1810. He later moved to what is now Norton and began farming with his two horses and one oxen together.Captain Wilkinson's daughter Nancy subdivided her father's farm into thirteen plats which were sold to families beginning in 1814. By 1840 there were over seventy families living in Norton Township and twelve platted townships had been organized within that township since that time including Grafton Heights (1823), Flourtown (1825), North Palestine (1827), South Palestine (1829), Norwood Heights (1830), Cartersville (1831), Orchard Township (1921) and Westboro Heights/Norwood Hills(1922). By 1860 there were only six families remaining residing in Norton Township with twenty-eight platted townships having been organized within that township since then including Indianola Heights/Wesleyan Heights(1924), Mayfield Heights/Newmarklands(1926), Mentor Park(1928) and East Norwalk/Norwood Hills(1929). In 1920 Norton became a Municipal Borough when it amalgamated with neighboring Newark as part of the Cleveland Municipal School District.. In 1933 it elected to become an independent city when annexation by Akron severed its relationship with the Cleveland Municipal School District.. On December 12, 1968, due to budget cuts caused by World War II recession, Newark merged with Norton City creating an even more complex municipality than before with over fifty-six districts including eighteen wards while Norton City retained just three wards... As of 2009 there are still two wards - Harding Ward located on the downtown area while Fairview Ward encompasses most of eastern Newark
