In 1814, Nortons became one of three towns in what is now Delaware County when that county was created from parts of Warren and Union counties. The other two towns were Miamisburg and Greenville Township; both were founded after Weed's Rebellion in 1811 when settlers fleeing battles along the Great Lakes area fled eastward into Pennsylvania under leadership of Major James Hennepin.Miamisburg was renamed Parkersburg after Anthony Parkman acquired land there in 1800; Greenville Township was renamed Westerville following Simon myles' purchase there from Nicholas Wright in 1800). In 1820, Delaware County become part of Montgomery County when that county was created from parts of Butler and Warren counties following the Ohio Compromise settlement that year between northern Democrats and southern Republicans following years-long conflict over boundary lines between those two states over lands within what are now Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky etc., including much of eastern Delaware County including Norton proper. In 1827, Nortons merged with neighboring Parkersburg into a new city called Lebanon before becoming their own separate municipality again in 1907 upon its creation from portions of Parkersburg, Lebanon Heights, Dover Heights/Norton East Townships/Dover Hills Village/Bellefontaine Township/Lebanon Heights Borough until annexation by Greenville Township effective July 1st 1909 According to2010 US Census data: 5
