Norton is a city in central Ohio, United States. The population was 25,521 at the 2010 census. Norton was founded in 1812 by Nicholas Norton and his family. It became an incorporated town in 1907. In 1969, Norton became the county seat of Delaware County. The city was named after General Nathaniel Eaton, who fought on the American side in the War of 1812 and later served as a U.S. Ambassador to Russia under President James K Polk. Nicholas Norton purchased 640 acres (248 hectares) of land east of Columbus from Anthony Wayne for $1 million in 1812 and laid out what would become Norton on this land. He named the community after himself because he had been involved in defense against Native Americans up until then and wanted to show support for Columbus' fledgling settlement that year. The first European settlers arrived here around 1800, with Isaac Aspinwall among them. However, it wasn't until 1830 that General Nicholas Eaton arrived from Sandusky with 3 companies of militia as part of a larger effort to prevent Native American raids into central Ohio Valley towns such as Tiffin, Youngstown and Newark while also seeking revenge on behalf of his brother-in-law Simon Whetstonefor injuries he had suffered when Eaton's forces burned down Whetstone's farmstead near Tiffin some years earlier A year later Eaton built Fort George on an additional 640 acres (248 hectares) northeast of present day Norton which housed cannons used during Indian Wars era skirmishes between Indians and white settlers In 1907, when Delaware County was created from portions of Cuyahoga County, Norton became its county seat The city annexed neighboring unincorporated communities including Arlington Heights Dairy near Great Mills Road and South Euclid Avenue; Stanton Heights opposite Arlington Heights; Bloomfield just east of Bloomfield Township off Route 6; Allendale about two miles northwest of downtown along US 27; East High School located across Main Street from孔子大学 eastern boundary ;[2] North High School located across Elmira Road from western boundary . According to the 2000 census,[3] there were 24,574 people living within 2 miles (3 km) secondarily to surrounding suburbs or villages within 1 mile (2 km) radius who self-identified as being "white", "native American", "black/African American", or "Hispanic/Latino". Within 10 miles (16 km), only 9% said they identified themselves as white only while over 50% reported being black/African American or Hispanic/Latino

Norton, Ohio is a town in Highland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Norton was founded in 1796 by John Norton and others as a post office on the Scioto River. In 1824 it became part of the Northwest Territory of Ohio and in 1827 it became a county seat of Highland County. It lost its county seat status in 1912 but regained it in 1916 when portions of Highland were annexed into neighboring Columbiana County. The borough of Norton was organized within Highland County in 1954 and has since become an independent city with its own government. The first settler to move to what is now Norton was John Norton, who arrived there from Portsmouth, England in 1796. He built a cabin along the Scioto River and named his new settlement after himself, Norton Township. In 1800, he sold land near present-day downtown to Captain Ebenezer Perkins for $1,000 dollars cash plus interest on that money. Captain Perkins donated further land to create what is now northeastern corner of downtown Morrisville before moving his family there permanently around 1830. By 1824, all but one acre (0 0'2") of what is now downtown Morrisville had been donated by Captian Ebenezer Perkins to form the nucleus for what would become modern-day Norton. In 1825–26 Drury & Co., merchants from Cincinnati opened a store at 6th and Main Streets which soon became one of the most important commerical centers east of the Allegheny Mountains due to its location near both transportation arteries – US Route 9 south down Sixth Street past State College (now University Hills) until it reached Market Street just north of Pennsylvania Avenue – making it easily accessible by wagon or horse drawn buggy for people searching for goods either coming or going from Cincinnati or other parts northeast across Interstate 70 (I-70 then called US 24). This convenient commercial center served as nucleus for future growth including early developed areas such as Second Ward on Market Street between Fifth and Sixth Streets eastward into today's northwest corner area bounded by Third Ward on First Street eastward through North Park/Downtown Cleveland Heights westward until reaching today's southeast corner at Washington Square where I-271 intersects with I-71
Norton, Ohio was founded in 1795 by George Norton. The town first became an agricultural community and then a manufacturing center due to its location near the Minton-Goudreau iron mine. The city was named after George Norton and it was granted a charter in 1825. It grew rapidly during the 19th century thanks to its natural resources and its position as a transportation hub on the Great Lakes region. In 1910, Norton was renamed Cleveland because of the city's switch from a rural to an urban economy. During World War II, Cleveland played an important role in the war effort as both a military supplier and industrial center. After the war, Cleveland experienced rapid growth as it became known for its new downtown development and mass production of automobiles and other products. In recent years, Cleveland has become an increasingly diverse city with limited economic opportunity that has struggled with several high-profile incidents such as the 2015 shootings at Cooley High School
