Norton is a community in Morrow County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,853 at the 2010 census. Norton is located on the Scioto River about north of Painesville and east of Shawnee. According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of , all of it land. The first Europeans to visit what is now Norton were French traders who set up a trading post there in 1763. In 1814, an act by the United States Congress established Norton as a town within Morrow County. The first settler was James Fenton, who arrived in 1815 and erected his cabin near where present-day Park Road leads south from State Route 12. A post office operated in Norton from 1830 until 1860; its records are extant only as photocopies. In 1881, when Morrow County was divided into two parts, Norton became part of one new county, but remains unincorporated today. In 1928–29 local residents founded Northview Presbyterian Church with session meeting held at First Baptist Church on Maple Street in Painesville for eight weeks beginning on November 16th and ended December 15th It served as their church until May 1st 1929 when they moved to their current location on Harrison Street which still serves as their active congregation’s meeting place today

Norton, Ohio is a small town in Scioto County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. Norton was established in 1814 and named for Capt. James Norton of the U.S. Marines who fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1846, Norton became one of the first towns in Scioto County to be incorporated as a village when it split from Warren Township. It had a population of 375 in 1850 and 476 in 1860; its charter was granted on November 5, 1851 by an act of the legislature of Ohio. On July 1, 1954, Norton became part of the Cleveland metropolitan area after being annexed by Cleveland from Euclid Township (now part of Mayfield). In 1916, Alfred Prentice donated land to create what would become Northeast Community College (NECC). NECC is now one of sixteen community college districts statewide that offers associate degree programs leading to certificates and/or professional degrees through five faculties: arts & sciences; business Administration; health care administration; engineering / architecture / construction; and social work/human services
Norton was founded in 1824 by Nicholas Norton, a Methodist minister and business man. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Ohio River and its close access to transportation. In 1851, Norton became the county seat of Lucas County. The population of Norton reached 10,000 by 1870, and it had become a major railroad center. In 1881, Norton was renamed Dayton after James A. Dayton, the first mayor of Cincinnati.
