Norton, Ohio is a small town of about 10,000 people that was founded in 1884. The population has grown over the years and now stands at around 15,000 residents. It is home to two gun stores - one located on Main Street and one located on the east side of town. The two gun stores are known for their excellence in ammunition sales and for also being some of the most popular businesses in Norton. The first gun store was opened in 1884 by John Norton Sr. John Norton Jr., his father's brother, opened the second store in 1902. Both John Norton Sr. and John Norton Jr. were great entrepreneurs who built up their businesses over time and helped contribute to the growth of Norton. Over time, both stores became well-known for their high quality products and customer service. In 1951, Bennett Firearms Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company which made it possible for Norton to become one of the largest ammunition providers in the United States. Today, Bennett Firearms Company remains a part of Winchester Repeating Arms Company while tactically operates its own store under its own name - Norton Ammunition & Gun Supply Incorporated (NAGS). Today, NAGS offers a wide variety of ammunition products including rounds for handguns, rifles, shotguns and muzzleloaders as well as reloading supplies such as cases and bullets

In 1970, Nortonsville Airport became a reliever airport for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport after it closed its main runway. In 2001, Nortonsville's shopping district experienced a renaissance due to new development along Euclid Avenue including two Macy's stores and a Sears store among other retailers.

In 1836, Norton became a village and was renamed Norton-on-the-Lake. By 1860, the population had grown to 5,000 people. In 1865, Norton became a city and remained so until its annexation by Cleveland in 1898. Today, Norton is a small community located just east of downtown Cleveland on the shore of Lake Erie. In 1821, General George Washington Norton donated land to the Peregrine Fund which would help support local agricultural endeavors. This donation led to the founding of Norton in 1826. At that time, Nortons were rural communities with few economic opportunities outside of farm work or fishing. Businesses started quickly within Nortons thanks to their isolation from other towns and cities on Lake Erie. By 1830 there were already several businesses in town including a store (owned by John Prentice), two schools (one for boys and one for girls), an inn/ Tavern (owned by Nicholas Weems), two churches (Church of England and Methodist), three farmers stores (including one owned by Captain James Fenton), four blacksmiths shops (including one owned by Solomon Hough) as well as dozens of cottage homes built between 1830 and 1840 primarily along the banks of navigation canal which ran through town center
Norton was founded in 1812 by Simon Norton and his wife Betsy. The town became a post office in 1836, and a city in 1898. It is the county seat of Hamilton County.
