North Royalton, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census and 2,027 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1836 by colonists from Canada who had settled in what is now southeastern Indiana. North Royalton was platted in 1840 and became a city in 1907. It lost its status as a city after it annexed neighboring towns: West Royalton (1911), East Royalton (1920), and South Royalton (1966). The name of the town comes from two Revolutionary War veterans, Nathanael Greene and James Kester, who were killed when their cannonball accidentally hit one of General George Washington's horses while they were marching through the town on their way to reinforce his army at Fort Necessity. Today NorthRoyalton consists of just over 1,000 people living primarily within its borders; there are no other settlements located within a radius of 25 miles (40 km). The oldest continuously inhabited building in NorthRoyalton is an Unitarian Universalist church built in 1892 that still stands today. Other notable structures include the old high school which burned down during World War II but was rebuilt with new construction; as well as several businesses including retail stores and restaurants which have since closed or been replaced by newer establishments.

North Royalton is a town in Ashland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. North Royalton was founded in 1811 byCaptain James North and his family. The first post office was established in North Royalton on May 10, 1811. In 1830, the town became the county seat of Ashland County and had a population of 3300. In 1870, it became part of Vandalia County and had a population of 4000. In 1912, North Royalton incorporated as a village and continued to have an elected government until 1975 when it became an unincorporated community under state law.[1] The townsite that now makes up North Royalton was laid out by Captain James North in 1811 while he was serving as militia captain for the Creek Nation during the War of 1812. At first there were only two homes in what is nowNorth Royalton – one owned by Captain James North himself and one rented from John Capps who also served as militia captain for the Creek Nation at that time. By 1830, however, there were over 20 homes built within present-day northRoyalton limits[2]. One reason for this rapid growth may have been due to increased access to land through treaties made with surrounding Indian nations after years of warfare between those groups and US forces[3]. In 1870, after becoming part of Vandalia County,[4],northRoyalTON incorporated as a village with its own government[5] which lasted until 1975 when it was annexed into Dayton proper[6]. Even though northRoyalTON ceased to exist as an entity separate from Dayton following annexation (limited enrollment followed), many people remain buried within its boundaries including Captain James North himself who still rests near mile marker 6 on Highway 75 East which remains unsigned despite efforts by several residents to rename it "James N." Road remnants can be found throughout present day northRoyalTON including on Cemetery Row off Old US 50 near mile marker 7A where early settlers buried their dead before moving on to larger settlements further east.[7] According to local legend,[8] Captains John Capps (the original owner)and George Hines helped lay out much of today's southcentral Ashland County while serving with Captains James N.(later renamed Captain James W.)and David Broyles respectively during this period; so much so that some believe they may have even been identical twins! An event mentioned often among locals is "The Battle Of Lake Erie" fought July 4th 1813 just outside current day historic downtown Vandalia Heights which resulted in 5 Ulysses S Grant's Native American scouts being killed plus 2 others captured resulting in General Tecumseh Sherman finally emerging victorious over his opponents! This story has been retold numerous times ever since - check out any old tourist traps or historical markers around town for details! It wasn't until 1840 that railroads began reaching northeast Ohio via what is now southern Ashland County; thusBeginning commercial development here !Ashland Trust Company Mercantile building located on Main Street date back to1875( Elmira Trust Co store opened same year). Coal mining began operations here soon thereafter & major mines Open Here include Westinghouse Coal Company (1915), Cleveland Anthracitecoal Mines Ltd(1920), Union Coal Company (1924), AlcoaCoal mine(1959) & Dresser Mining company open 1966
