One of the first LED flashlights was created in North Ridgeville, Ohio in 2009. It was called the Gale flashlight and it used Cree XP-G3 LED headlights. At the time, this was the first LED flashlight to be released. It had a maximum range of about 100 feet and it could be used as a handheld light or as an attachment for a camera. North Ridgeville is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,838 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. North Ridgeville was founded in 1824 as a small community on the banks of the Miami River. The village became an incorporated town in 1872, and then an unincorporated hamlet until it became an incorporated town again in 1906. The name North Ridgeville comes from the ridge that runs along one side of the river and forms the border between present-day North Ridgeville and neighboring White Oak Township. At first, there were only a few houses on this ridge and people lived below it for fear that Indians would come down to take them if they built too high up. In 1824, when James Ketchum purchased land east of what is now North Ridgeville from John Woolridge for $800 cash, he named his new community after his father-in-law’s home state of New York (North Carolina). Ketchum had married into a family whose patriarch had owned land near where White Oak Township now stands (the current site of Muskingum County). Ketchum did not live long enough to see his settlement renamed North Ridgeville because he died before its establishment. His wife did however name their children after places near her childhood home in Virginia: James Ketchum Jr., born 1865; Mary Anna Ketchum, born 1870; Pleasant Hill Ketchum, born 1875; and Fenton Wm. Ketchum III 1902-1987). In 1872 Gertrude Atherton donated about 5 acres (20 hectares) northeast of today's downtown to make way for another village called Centerville which would eventually become North Ridgeville itself. The Village Committee voted unanimously to incorporate on April 15th,1872 – three days after General Slocumb’s memorable speech urging American settlers to settle “up among us” as close as possible so that “he who has something left here can furnish something better for our children than what we have here among us”1 After incorporation was granted by the Ohio Legislature on October 10th residents started building their homes with help from local schoolteachers and farmers who pooled their money together2 There were no Banks or stores back then so citizens relied mostly upon trade with other villages located closer by3 Some residents even went so far as to form their own militia unit4 . By 1880 there were over 100 inhabitants5 . early 20th century photos show many buildings still standing including post office6 . One such building may be seen behind modern day First National Bank building which fronts Park Avenue7 . This building served as both Post Office and School until 1985 when it was torn down8

North Ridgeville was founded in 1827 by John North and his wife, Sarah. The town rapidly grew due to its location on the edge of a high plateau, offering an excellent view of the surrounding area and generous land grants from the Ohio legislature. North Ridgeville became a thriving community with large families, businesses, and churches. The town's growth peaked during the 1830s when it boasted over 100 residents and a significant amount of industry such as agriculture, lumbering, and manufacturing. However, by 1840 North Ridgeville had reached its limits as industry started to decline in the area while population growth stalled. In 1849 Northridgeville lost its charter due to lack of support; however, it continued to grow until it attained city status in 1903. During its time as a city, North Ridgeville experienced some significant changes including the construction of several schools (including one that still stands today), a new downtown square which served as commercial and cultural center for the community for many years before being demolished in 2006, and numerous heritage buildings added to its list of notable landmarks.
