The city experienced a boom during the 1950s as thousands of workers commuting to Cleveland brought new life to North Ridgeville's downtown area and hundreds of homes were constructed around it. One hope for the future is that South Euclid Avenue will be redeveloped into an upscale shopping district that would include various restaurants and nightlife options as well as office space for larger businesses that could help revive the local economy.

North Ridgeville is a town in Ashland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 7,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what would become North Ridgeville was John Richardson in 1792. He and his family moved from Lancaster County to this location after purchasing land from the Delaware Company. Richardson built a cabin on the ridge that overlooks present-day North Ridgeville Lake. In 1802, he married Susannah Fowler and together they started a small farmstead which grew into a large rancho. They had five children: John (1804-1872), Sarah (1807-1896), Rachel (1809-1877), Richard (baptized December 12, 1811), and James Atherton Richardson Jr. (May 9, 1813 - October 5, 1865). In 1835, Richard Atherton Richardson Sr., son of James Atherton Richardson Jr., became president of the Lima & Toledo Railroad and began expanding it into other areas of Ohio including North Ridgeville. This railroad allowed for increased trade between these two towns and made some big improvements to what would become North Ridgeville such as creating a schoolhouse in 1839 and an Presbyterian church in 1850/51. In 1870/71, North Ridgeville added its own post office which opened on May 1st with nine residents! Today there are over 150 people who call North Ridgeville home! It wasn't until after World War II that things really started to take off for Northridgeville with businesses opening up such as DeWitt's Department Store in 1951 followed by American Home Furnishings; Bedrock Spirits; The Second Mile Jewelers; JCPenney; Sears Roebuck & Co.; Kroger supermarket chain stores; Pizza Hut located on Euclid Avenue near Dayton Mall since 1984 and now Macy's department store! Today much like many other places across America during this time period there has been growth throughout technology along with globalization which has led to more companies moving their headquarters out into various parts of the world making it easier for people to get work done whether that be jobs or products!
The town of North Ridgeville was founded in 1837 by a group of Scots-Irish farmers. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the edge of a rolling hill country and its access to major Routes 44 and 7. By 1860, North Ridgeville had over 1,000 residents. In 1881, the name of the town was changed to North Park after the creation of Park Township. The population declined in the early 20th century, but has since begun to grow again thanks to new development within walking distance of the community.
