North Ridgeville is a small town in theuy of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,494 at the 2010 census. North Ridgeville is part of the Cleveland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The village was founded in 1814 and named for General James Hance (1785-1846), an American Revolutionary War officer and signer of the Declaration of Independence. It was renamed North Ridgeville in 1881 after Delaware Township in Medina County, Ohio which had been adjacent to what is now North Ridgeville since 1828. In 1865, Indian agents led by Captain George Croghan discovered coal seams near present day North Ridgeville while surveying land for Pittsburgh Coal Company. The company began production at nearby Upper Arlington and soon built a mill on the Scioto River. The town's first post office opened in 1865 under the name Rocksburg; it changed its name to North Ridgeville two years later when it became part of Medina County. During World War II, North Ridgeville served as headquarters for Third Army Corps during Operation Market Garden and Battle of Arnhem. In 1951, it became home to Ironton Village Shopping Center when that community was merged into nearby Ironton Heights. In 1995, Northridgeville lost its status as a township when Summit Township absorbed it into its jurisdiction; however, on January 1st, 2002 it reincorporated as a separate local municipality with its own government services within Summit Township proper only - no longer sharing services with Ironton Village Shopping Center which continued to operate solely as a retail center until 2011).

North Ridgeville is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land that would become North Ridgeville was first settled by Teal and other early settlers in the 1820s. In 1827, John Hennepin opened what became known as the "Hennepin House" on what is now Main Street in North Ridgeville. The farmhouse still stands today and offers a view of Lake Erie from its second floor windows. In 1831, James Fenton bought land east of present day North Ridgeville from Moses Kilgore and began to develop it into a village. He named his settlement after George Washington Carver Jr., one of his main donors to the Village site and one of its founders. By 1830, Carver had built some homes and started selling goods he had collected during his travels around the Great Lakes region for local residents to purchase or build themselves homes near their workplaces or farmssteads (today's businesses). The first post office in North Ridgeville opened on October 15, 1830; it was called New Carlisle because it served only north-central Butler County. In 1836, Edwin Ladd sold property south of present day Northridgevillage to make way for an new village development that included two large gristmills (one remaining active until 1979) as well as several sawmills and other manufacturing plants; these were also demolished in the late 1980s when Interstate 71 was constructed through Butler County. A Presbyterian Church began services at this location in 1840; it burned down in 1886 but was rebuilt with additions including a bell tower which remains standing today and serves as a prominent landmark for locals located near Route 121 southwest of town on Cedar Road (now Old Hennepin Rd.). From 1840 until 1860, three schools were operated in North Ridgeville: oneElementary School (1840), Oneida Academy (1860), and Bethel School (1860-61). A fourth school – Elmira Female Academy –was added later but failed to take hold due to low enrollment levels despite being open for about 25 years before closure in 1984 due to lack of financial support from then-Mayor Tom Donoghue Sr.. In 1861 Jno: Wray & Son moved their foundry from Port Clinton - across I-71 - into what would become Northridgeville proper following much debate between community members over whether such an massive move should be made within minutes or days after becoming aware of advances being made by Union forces further south along I-71 just beyond Carrollton Township limits...Union forces occupied most of Butler County by 1862 so much work remained unfinished within NRR that JW&S decided instead to move production operations back eastward into neighboring Warren Township where they continued until 1865 when hostilities ended with cessation of hostilities marked by general disarmament throughout all Clay county...In 1865 they closed up shop again because they could no longer compete against better financed Union facilities closer down I-71."
