In North Ridgeville, Ohio, binoculars have been a part of the community for many years. The first binoculars were invented by Dr. George Chapman in 1825 and were called “Chapman’s glasses.” Binoculars became popularized in America during the Revolutionary War because military commanders could use them to see far away objects. The first American patent on a pair of binoculars was granted to Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. During the 1800s, people in North Ridgeville started buying newbinoculars and using them to view the local scenery and community events. In 1811, Reverend James Caldwell opened a school at Main Street and West Market Road. He needed two large telescopes to teach his students about astronomy so he bought two sets of binoculars from Nicholas-Jacques Conte. After Reverend Caldwell died in 1815, his son Samuel took over the school and continued to sellbinoculars until it closed in 1830. In 1840, John W bead became manager of a tannery on South High Street near present day Main Street. He used his binocular skills to see details on the tannery equipment that he had not been able to find with only his eyesight! When he passed away in 1849, his son John took over as manager of the tannery and continued making improvements to it until it closed in 1861. It is interesting to note that when John W bead passed away, North Ridgeville had only one business street name (South High Street) which still exists today! From 1840-1861, there were three managers of Binoculous Tannery who made significant changes within it! These managers are significant because they helped change how binocularity was used for sightseeing across America! In 1847-48 Nathaniel Bacon also purchased a set ofbinocular spectacles from Nicholas-Jacques Conte which allowed himto view stars without having any obstruction between his eyeballsand optical glass lenses like other people did at that time! After Nathaniel Bacon died in 1850,his son Amos took over as manager until he too passed away in 1865; this left control ofthe business with Mr.. Geoge Goudreau who ran it until 1907 when it reopened as Binoculous Optical Store Incorporated! By 1907,North Ridgeville had become an important center for optics due to its location closeto major markets such as Cincinnati and Cleveland while also having several factories producing scientific instruments such as prismatic reflectors whichwere very valuable during World War I! After World War I ended there was heavy competitionin termsof production within optics industry so Binoculous decidedto close its store but kept all their inventory including their famous prismatic Reflectorswhich continueto be used by astronomers today!

North Ridgeville, Ohio is a town located in the northwestern corner of Ohio. The population was 12,748 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Akron- Canton-Muncie, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. North Ridgeville is bordered by Union Township to the east and south, Summit Township to the west and north, and Defiance Township to the northwest. The first European settlers in what would become North Ridgeville were German farmers who arrived in 1795. They named their new land "Northeast Heights." By 1825, about 60 German immigrants had moved into Northeast Heights and started a dairy farm that still stands today. In 1827, James Atherton purchased 640 acres (247 ha) of land from Nicholas Post for $10 per acre ($2/ha). This area became known as Atherton Hill because it housed most of the town's early buildings. In 1830, John Cushman bought 1,000 acres (500 ha) of land from Nicholas Post for $15 per acre ($4/ha). This area became known as Hillcrest because it included much of present day North Ridgeville. In 1833, George Prentice bought 800 acres (300 ha) from Nicholas Post for $20 per acre ($6/ha). This area became known as Prentice Park because it included much of present day North Ridgeville proper as well as parts of Union and Summit townships to the east and south. In 1836, Isaac Sibley bought 2 lots – one on each side of High Street – for $40 per lot (equivalent to $320 today). This initial purchase sets the pattern that would be followed throughout much of this period: First came farmers who settled on small lots near business areas; then came developers who erected large blocks with streets running straight through them; finally came people who built homes on long strips between these larger parcels without any street connections whatsoever! The result was an intense concentration within a relatively small area which helped create a unique sense of community identity hereabouts that has not been replicated anywhere else in America! As development continued apace over time however - especially after World War II - there was significant subdivision among those originally settled around Main Street NULLA 0201 3008 0000 0000 00030000 !!! North Ridgeville is part of the Athens-Clarke County, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now North Ridgeville were French traders and missionaries who traveled through the area in 1793. The town was founded on a hill between Hicks Road and State Route 13 in 1814 by George Dearborn, one of three brothers who founded Dearborn Township. North Ridgeville became a hamlet when only 10 people lived there. It was incorporated as a city in 1907. During World War II, North Ridgeville served as an important military depot for Allied forces fighting against Nazi Germany. In 1945, it was destroyed by fire duringbombing raids by the United States Air Force Eighth Air Force over Berlin. As a result of its destruction, North Ridgeville lost much of its commercial and cultural life but has since regained some vitality with many new businesses opening up since then.
North Ridgeville was founded in 1824 by a group of pioneers who came from Ohio's central region. The town grew rapidly and soon became a major center for the agricultural industry. North Ridgeville was also one of the first towns in Ohio to be named after mountain ranges, specifically the Allegheny and Monongahela Mountains. In 1910, North Ridgeville became the county seat of Medina County.
