They had six children: George Washington Davenport (1807-1868), Lucy Jane Davenport (1809-1892), Anna Muhlenberg Stiles (1814-1900), Nicholas Frederick Davenport (1817-1901), Maynard Edward Davenport (1820-1912) and Mary Elizabeth Stiles (baptized 1824). On July 1, 1814, the village of North Olmsted was founded by a group of farmers who had come to settle in what is now northeastern Ohio. The area was part of the Northwest Territory until it became part of the United States in 1785. In 1814, North Olmsted's first post office opened and remained in operation until 1826. On October 25, 1850, the village incorporated as a city and remains so today.
