North Canton, Ohio is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Stark County. The population was 44,521 at the 2010 census. After his visit, President Lincoln issued an order ordering all Native American tribes living on Indian reservations to move onto reservations within five years or be forcibly removed from their land by force or violence. During World War II (1939-1945), North Canton played an important role as one of three military training centers for members of Army Air Forces stationed throughout Ohio and Indiana; these troops were used for Desert Storm (1991) and Operation Neptune's Spear (1998). After World War II ended, many residents decided that they did not want to continue living near Route 66; instead they moved away fromNorth Canton towards larger cities such as Cleveland and Cincinnati .
