The first airguns were brought to North Canton in 1892 by W.F. Kapp and Company, Incorporated. This company manufactured Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) pistols and shotguns under the name “Kapp” Firearms. The first commercial production of airguns took place in 1895 by Harry Henson & Sons, who produced the Henson Airgun model 1A and 2A rifles using gas-operated breech loaders with a number of different calibers available including .177/.24 caliber, .25 caliber, .270 Winchester Magnum, 6mm Remington Magnum, 8mm Luger, 10mm Parabellum and 12 gauge shotgun shells.

North Canton was founded on November 3, 1801 by General John Hicks as a post office called "Hicksburgh". On July 1, 1827, it became a village under the name "North Canton". On January 1, 1868, it became an incorporated town and on February 17th achieved its current population size. In 1870-71, North Canton began to build a waterworks system which would provide drinking water for all of Stark County. The Works Progress Administration financed this project which was completed in 1943. On December 4th of that year (1943), North Canton celebrates its 375th anniversary with a parade and picnic/festival including music and games from 5pm to 10pm at Mechanicsburg Park

North Canton, Ohio is a town in Delaware County, Ohio, United States. The population was 10,868 at the 2000 census. North Canton is the economic and cultural center of the Middletown Township region. It is also home to one of the largest employers in Delaware County: North Canton Community College. The first settler in what is now North Canton was Nicholas Biddle in 1792. A post office called North Canton was established in 1801, and became part of Delaware County. The town site was selected from a group of sites that were offered to settlers by Trustee John Cook during the 1800s as part of the development of Middletown Township. The first school in North Canton was built on land donated by Isaac Watts in 1802-3. The school District #1 purchased land from Mr. Watts in 1896-97 for $2,500; it replaced an earlier school which had been built on land donated by George Stephenson and his wife Anna Stephenson two years earlier. In 1907-08, work began on building what would become known as "the great white tower" (now part of NCC). Construction started on November 15th, 1907 and ended on December 8th, 1908; it took about 25 weeks to complete due to severe weather conditions which caused numerous power outages throughout the area at that time. The structure served as both a public library and community center until 1975 when it closed due to financial difficulties brought about by changes within Northwest Ohio's educational landscape following Watergate nationally renowned events such as "The day our schools closed." In its final days before closing its doors for good, North Canton Library operated a branch located inside NCC's then new Administration Building which still exists today as an exhibit space used by members of staff only with advance permission from NCC librarians
