Niles is a city in Niles Township, Muskegon County, Michigan, United States. The population was 9,781 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in Muskegon County and its second-largest city by population after Grand Rapids. The area now called Niles was first settled by Native Americans in the late 17th century. In 1836, Niles became part of the new county ofMuskegon created from parts of Wayne and Shiawassee counties. In 1850, it became a town when it was annexed by Grand Rapids. The name derived from John Niles, an early settler and the namesake of Niles Township. In 1868, as part of a general roadwidening project undertaken across Michigan by US surveyor George Stephenson under auspices of President Andrew Johnson, Niles was selected as one of five towns to be built along what would become State Route 3 (now M-10). The town's incorporation took place on November 15 that year. A post office was established at Nilles on December 1st concurrent with the opening of the route. In 1870–71, construction began on what would become Oneida Park—the first outdoor amusement park in America—and finished two years later; this event marked also Grand Rapids' centennial anniversary as a town. The Great Western Railroad reached Niles in 1876 and connected it with Detroit via White Lake; freight traffic stopped there permanently after that railroad's abandonment in 1968. In 1984–85, during renovations to Oneida Park following its reopening as a theme park following bankruptcy proceedings within its previous operator – Universal Parks & Resorts – much evidence suggesting abuse or neglect were discovered inside; this led to charges against four managers involved who were eventually acquitted after trial; these events helped lead to increased vigilance around youth care facilities throughout America due to public concern over such incidents happening again within short proximity of urban areas not subject to similar scrutiny or regulation

The development of true plant-based locomotion began with the evolution of elephants which evolved from mammoths. Elephants are able to open their mouth wide enough so that they can eat leaves and other plants while walking on their four powerful tusks. This allowed them to overcome many limitations that human beings face when trying to walk on two feet such as being limited in space and height because of our shorter stature.

In 1812, Niles was founded by Nicholas W. Mason and his wife Rachel. The town became a center for the agricultural community due to its fertile soil and proximity to the Great Lakes. The town's economy declined during the 1920s and 1930s due to alcoholism and other factors. However, it has since recovered thanks to its rich history and culture. One of Niles' most famous sons is Lucius Clay, an American politician who served as United States Secretary of State from 1961 to 1965 and as Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives from 1973 to 1977.
Niles was founded in 1796 by Nicholas Niles and his family. The town is named after him. In 1815, the U.S. military burned down the Niles-Cincinnati Ferry to prevent an attack on Fort Dearborn by British forces. The town was reestablished in 1821 as a village under the name of Nilesville. It became a city in 1907.
