On July 5th 1825, Newark became a town under British rule when it was incorporated as part of territory included within what would become Ontario County; however it remained unincorporated until 1892 when legislation changed municipal boundaries within Delaware County so that all municipalities were required to adopt a common format for their tax assessments which meant that Newark did not fall into this category until 1893 despite having been founded less than 10 years earlier! One resultof this growth was many abandoned buildings becoming hotels or warehouses usedfor storagerather then being torn down & replacedwith new homes each time!!
