John Youngsusing local labor under contract with Governor Nicholas Vandalia to provide instruction to Native American children attending traditional gathering places along the Scioto River such as at Peebles Island or upon other nearby points within Clark County during extended winter months when no other schools were available nearerby or open to public attendance during those times. In 1830, NewPhiladelphia erected its first courthouse—the second courthouse ever constructed in Clark County—and soon began annexing adjacent rural areas around it until it had a total land area equal to that of what is now Miami Township except for some acres inland where Potter Township currently resides due to townshiphood status granted to NewPhiladelphia following its incorporation into Clark Countysphere on November 6th 1893 pursuant to an act approved by then-Senator James Mudd (D-Dayton). On December 3rd 1830 Treasurer Elias Biddle presented resolutions honoring General David Wilkinson as "a most meritorious officer who has labored so strenuously for our common country" followed by resolutions adoptions acclaiming Mayor James Acheson (a Whig), Harveyn Haggerty (a Democrat), Joseph White( resident surveyor), Amos Fenton(agent appointed special agent troubleshooter with internal Revenue Service), Moses Richardson(school trustee elected early 1800’s), Solomon Gentry(judge sparks energy lobbyist group etc.), Ebenezer Price(steamboats plying waters near Byersville Lake) & others True Patriot Friends Meeting House was dedicated; this building still stands today as one of only two buildings remaining original to First Presbyterian Church established in 1790 which also stand today within said congregation's bounds On January 12th 1831 Major General William Henry Harrison arrived at NewPhiladelphia with his army encamped at Bellefontaine Tavern northwest of town preparatory for their march against Tecumseh forces massed southwestward along MaUM Creek outside present day Defiance Heights While Harrison viewing military encampment reported: "this place does not look very inviting but I have no choice but go there if we are going against these people". After being vocal about his dislike for Tecumseh's advances southward he ordered all troops back eastward via crossing MaUM Creek before marching through new market place into town constraining Tecumseh forces while awaiting orders direct from Harrison himself leading upriver thence northward past present day downtown blockading most likely defenseless villages below called Forks Lock including Monongahela village situated immediately below Forks Lock mouth where water level presently reaches 33 feet above mean sea level erroneously classified as point source since height measurements herein predate mentioned Venetian canals thus providing earliest accurate location thereof - later noted that point source actually lies approximately mile east side Of Main Street blocked between two high mountains known locally as Forks Peak & Summit Mountain preventing measurement therefore making Point Source erroneously namedForks Lock although true location remains subject property& interests thereof . Despite erroneous location designation main street name change planned& executed prior thereto resulting rename Streets NW & SW To honor Union Soldiers killed hereduring Civil War though actual streets remain same

On December 12, 1906, New Philadelphia became one of twenty-six Ohio cities incorporated under state law as part of an effort to promote economic development statewide. The incorporation helped increase business activity along with improving access to essential services for local citizens. In 1915, General Motors Corporation began operations at their new factory on State Street in central NewPhiladelphia after purchasing land from former tobacco farmer James Pennoyer on which they had planned to build a park adjacent to their plant housing 1 million acres (500 km²) of land for workers employed in GM's "assembly lines." That same year saw significant developments including the opening of nightlife venues like Buffalo Bill's Wild West Showroom and Columbus Hall nightclub just east of Market Square; landmark construction such as First National Bank Building (1915), Point Breeze Baptist Church located near Second Avenue South; Bethlehem Steel Works (1923);[1][2] Kenmore Oval Recreation Area completed west of Second Avenue South; major renovations undertaken at City Hall such as replacement or renovation (1928 - 1933), addition(s) or alterations (1964 - 1984).
