In the early 1800s, New Philadelphia was a small village located in northwestern Ohio. It was home to around 100 residents and consisted of two log houses and a few other buildings. The first firearm known to have been used in the area is thought to be an Indian bow or arrow. However, it is clear that firearms were not unknown in this region at this point. In fact, there are references to firearms being used as early as 1795 when one of the settlers named Nicholas Moreau reported seeing a man use a rifle against his horse during a battle on the frontier. Firearms began becoming more common shortly thereafter and by 1812, New Philadelphia had become an important trading post for fur traders traveling through the area. This period also saw significant development with regards to gunpowder production which helped contribute to both local defense and trade opportunities. During World War II, much effort was put into creating munitions factories within NewPhiladelphia; these helped contribute towards making new Pittsburgh into one of America's leading industrial centers just prior to war’s end. The post-war boom period for NewPhiladelphia began with downtown redevelopment beginning in earnest led by Mayor Art Rooney starting around 1960 which transformed what had been once a sleepy little town into one of today’s more vibrant neighborhoods with high-end shops and restaurants lining Main Street corridor The current incarnation began primarily as a bedroom community for working class families during the late 1970s through Midwestern growth spurt until African Americans started moving intothe community starting in 2000 while all other races have gradually assimilated since then
