The history of shooting target holders in Mount Vernon, Ohio can be traced back to the early 1800s. At that time, many pioneers in the area decided to settle down and begin a new life. One of those pioneer families was the Hontz family. The Hontz family started out farming in what is now Mount Vernon Township, Ohio. As they began their journey up the hill from their farmstead, they discovered an opening on their property which housed a large Variety Store. They decided to use this opportunity as their home base while they looked for more permanent land. In 1828, Ezekiel Hontz married Anna (Neely) Smith and started his own business in Mount Vernon Township: A Store for Sale. This store would serve as the nucleus of what would become known as Hontz's Hardware & Emporium Incorporated - one of the largest hardware stores in Northeast Ohio until it folded in 1954! Over time, other members of the Hontz family joined Ezekiel and Anna at their store: John (1829-1902), Jane (1830-1914), Charles (1835-1925), Emma (1838-1920), Franklin D., Jr.(1860-1945), Melvin C., Sr.(1892-1976). It wasn't long before these businesses grew into something much larger; by 1860, there were six stores under one roof! During prohibition times during the 1920s and 1930s, many people chose not to break federal law by purchasing alcohol without a license. This caused some inconvenience for local businesses that had to sell liquor without customers! However, thanks to efforts by several members of Congress - including Congressman John Fenton - business continued uninterrupted even during prohibition days! In 1933, Prohibition was repealed and all alcoholic sales were allowed once again! When World War II began on September 2nd 1941 – just weeks after America entered into war – most people didn't think much about guns because it had been such a recent event. However, when Germany invaded Poland on September 1st 1939 – just two months after America entered into war – gun owners across America took note and got ready for battle! On October 6th 1939 – less than two weeks after America entered into war – President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9999 calling for all citizens who owned firearms to register them with government authorities! After registration was complete on November 3rd 1939 – well over a year after President Roosevelt made his order – all weapons must be stored at armories or military installations until further notice!!! Firearms registrations were also required if anyone wanted to buy any ammunition or parts!! ammo production stopped completely on December 15th because so many residents had registered too late!!!!! Allocation of rifles and pistols went forward slowly but surely due To wartime restrictions!!!! gun owners knew that soon enough things might get dangerous………..

The Mount Vernon Rifle Club was founded in 1892. The club’s first target holders were made from old shot glasses and other heavy objects found around the property of the club. Growth led to the creation of a rifle range in 1909, and eventually, a pistol range as well. In 1928, the club purchased land adjacent to their current shooting range on Euclid Avenue for use as an expansion plot. The new range included a 20-meter clay target, an 8-meter steel target, and a 10-meter steel Skeet course. In 1951, the Mount Vernon Rifle Club became one of 17 clubs affiliated with The National Rifle Association (NRA). NRA members are now able to join any local NRA chapter without having to move away from their home state or city. In 1984, NRA member shooters started using 5x28mm NATO rounds for handgun shooting at distances up to 100 yards. In 2013, NRA member shooters started using 3m9mm rounds for handguns at distances up to 25 yards.
Mount Vernon, Ohio is a small city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Sandusky County. It is located on the Wabash River near its confluence with the Scioto River. The population was 5,327 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1788 by Nicholas Illich and his wife, Catherine aliens from Russia as a result of an agreement between George Washington and Catherine II of Russia for trade goods to be transported overland through what is now West Virginia on their way to India. In 1801, Washington granted land to Illich in exchange for providing labor for building his White House. That same year, Mount Vernon became a part of the United States when it was ratified as a state. The first school in Mount Vernon was opened in 1802 by Rev John Peterkin and Dr Benjamin Rush; there were only five students in total during that first year. The school continued operating until 1825 when it burned down due to lack of funding; however, another school was eventually built using money raised from local landowners and citizens donations. In 1827, Anthony Wayne founded Academy Hill School which served as a grammar school until 1870 when it became Mt Vernon Normal School; it closed because of budget cuts in 1907 but reopened after World War I as Mt Vernon High School; it closed again in 1970 but reopened again as Mount Vernon Community College after being privatized in 1984 under then-President Ronald Reagan's administration. A new high school was built using public funds following the closure of MVC College and opened on September 20, 2006; this building serves as both the primary high school campus for students from all six wards within Sandusky County (West Side/University Heights/Oakwood/Ansonia/East Side) while also serving as home to the college's football team (the Mount Vernon Panthers).

By 1830, Mount Vernon had become an important transportation hub on the Great Lakes region due to its location at the junction of two major trails that ran through Ohio. In 1836, during the American Civil War, Mount Vernon served as Fort Knox for Union forces loyal to President Andrew Johnson. After the war, many businesses closed down due to factors such as increased competition from other Midwest cities. However, some persisted in Mt Vernon until it was destroyed by fire in 1903. Today, much of what remains of Mount Vernon is open for public visitation including the original courthouse and legislative building which are now operated as a museum
The first white settlers in Mount Vernon came from Connecticut in the early 1800s. They were led by a man named John Greenough, who was a surveyor for the Ohio Company. The settlers arrived in 1791 and built their homes on what is now known as Greenough Heights. In 1812, they founded the town of Mount Vernon on top of an abandoned anthracite coal mine. The town quickly became one of the most important settlements in Northwest Ohio because it had a large enough population to support its own government and maintain its own roads and infrastructure.
