Montgomery is a city in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 25,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Summit–Bloomington Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in what is now Montgomery was David Worrell in 1813. In 1824, John Pettigrew donated land to the town for $10 per acre ($ ). Pettigrew and his wife also contributed money towards construction of a courthouse and meeting hall. The first post office was established in 1830. By 1840, Montgomery had a two-story school building with a courtroom on one side and another classroom on the other side. A jail was built in 1848 and became an operating theatre during World War II until it closed its doors in 1951. In 1870, Reverend James Ritchie founded Unitarian Universalist Church which still meets today in downtown Montgomery. In 1931, local businessman Copley Gartner donated land to create the current city limits which flowed into town from what is now Highland Heights Township (now Maplewood). He named the new township after himself – Montgomery Township – because he felt that it would be more difficult for outsiders to distort or change its boundaries without involving him directly. A survey of business owners located within Montgomery shows that most are proprietors who operate their businesses out of their homes; this indicates that while many people live within walking distance of either their job or homebase, they seldom leave their neighborhoods for any extended period of time outside of work or shopping errands

Montgomery, Ohio is a small town in Montgomery County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,621 at the 2010 census. It lies on the southern edge of the Dayton metropolitan area. The township was laid out in 1793 by James Montgomery and named for him. After suffering from yellow fever during the American Revolution, James Montgomery donated land to establish a hospital in what is now Dayton to care for those infected. The first school in Montgomery was built in 1802 and served as a model for similar institutions throughout northeast Ohio. In 1827, the township became part of Athens Township when that community was created from parts of smaller townships around Athens (then known as Independence) and Newarkville (then known as Bedford). In 1881, following the creation of Montgomery County, most of what is now Montgomery Township were annexed by Apollo Township east of Dayton. That same year saw the opening of one of America's first convenience stores - The Three-Cornered Hatchery Store - on US Route 283 in present-day Beavercreek Township. Soon after, other businesses followed suit: A hardware store and feed store opened in 1903; an ice cream parlor opens in 1905; a movie theater opens in 1907; and a post office opens in 1909. During World War II, much activity took place at Nichols Park across from Main Street military base which housed many factories making war materials such as tanks and planes. Many manufacturing jobs closed down but some stayed open such as Brownie Baking Company which produced millions of brownies over fifty years until it closed its doors due to economic decline near Cincinnati just before 2000%.
