Montgomery is a small city in the state of Ohio, located about 25 miles north-northwest of Cleveland. It was founded in 1813 by David Butler and named after General Andrew Jackson. The township was organized two years later on March 3, 1833 by order of then-Governor George Washington Carver with John Burchfield as president and Wm Jordon as secretary/treasurer/builder/ land agent (the first post office in this township). The name “Lancaster” may have been chosen because it included both James Lancaster (founder) and Samuel Lancaster (Ulysses S Grant’s father). In 1836, when Township No 2 became part of Butler County, Thomas Hickey started developing what is now known as Downtown Montgomery with lots donated by friends or family members along First Street between 10th Avenue North and Market Street NW cornering Main Street SE cornering Jackson Boulevard NE cornering Elmira Road SW cornering Patton Boulevard NW cornering Liberty Avenue SE Cornering Westmoreland Avenue NE bought by Elisha Goodloe from Abram Findlay for $600 cash plus 6 acres he had previous conveyed adjacent thereto to form Goodloe Heights which eventually developed into what we know today as Downtown Montgomery streetscape circa 1926

With increased trade with Kentucky during the Mexican–American War (1846-1848), Montgomery grew rapidly and soon became known for its whiskey production and other agricultural products such as cottonseed oil and eggs. By 1870, textile mills had replaced whiskey distilleries in downtown Montgomery; heavy industry began to arise around this time including education and health care facilities which continue to grow into the present day economy. In 1907, when Dayton annexed parts of Knox Township to form its new municipal government, Mayor David Latham proposed annexing Montgomery too since it also lay within his municipality’s boundaries but no action was taken until 1914 when a referendum resulted in approval for annexation without any debate or opposition from residents who saw it as necessary for economic reasons alone given Dayton’s increasing population size bordering on Cincinnati proper at that time (the two municipalities were merged in 2000). After annexation occurred all activities inside Mobile Home Park were relocated to newly built buildings near I-71/I-475 exit 287 east just south of State Streets – beginning what has been called “Montgomery’s heyday” both economically and politically due largely to proximity to major metropolitan areas while still maintain[ing] some rural character unique among American cities during this period. In recent years many large businesses have moved out or closed down completely leaving only small local businesses clustered around transportation infrastructure like I-471/I-475 Exit 287 along with several small parks dotting downtown streets providing much needed civic space today despite having few residents actually living within them
Montgomery was founded in 1792 by General George Washington and his army after they were pushed out of Ohio. The town is named for the Montgomery County seat in Pennsylvania, which at the time was part of British America. In 1814, Montgomery became a county in Ohio and remained so until 1911 when it became a township.
