Middletown, Ohio is a small city in the U.S. state of Ohio that is the county seat of Ross County. The population was 3,835 at the 2010 census. Middletown is located on the Scioto River and is part of the Cincinnati metropolitan area. The city's history goes back to 1800 when it was called "The Village". Middletown escaped destruction by fire during World War II and has been rebuilt several times since then as a thriving community with a strong agricultural sector and active downtown district. Today, Middletown remains an important center for research and education in optics, technology, engineering and science. One of the earliest communities in which scopes were developed in America was Middletown (now part of Cincinnati), founded by Major General John Sullivan in 1795 as a trading post on the Scioto River between Fort George Wright on the north side of town and Fort Pitt on the south side. In 1802, General Anthony Wayne founded what became Columbus Township east of Middletown along Jameson Creek before moving west to purchase land from Native Americans near what is now Greenfield Township northwest of town in 1806-07 under pressure from United States President James Ketchum that ended years of American Indian operating without patent rights across much present-day Ohio territory including much of central Indiana where he had interests himself via his Indiana Company ventures into land grants to various Shawnee chiefs allied with Britain during war for control over North America against France). For many years after this acquisition most people living outside town thought local Indians did all our farming here because there were no other inhabitants until white settlement began generally following Tecumseh’s Treaty negotiations leading up to American independence as well as military campaigns against British forces throughout this time period; thus only men could own property hereabouts which created quite an imbalance given today’s access to more than one acre per adult male inhabitant notwithstanding some scattered rural properties still remaining which enjoy some degree or protection through zoning laws etc., not really giving “the people” anything they haven’t had before just beyond their individual homes/landholdings within easy walking distance/viewing range nonetheless suffice it here I am! In 1800 John Ager (one half owner) erected a log cabin at what is now known as Old Town Hall Square about 2 ½ miles west of present day MiddletOWN on high ground commanding an unobstructed view down both forks of Jameson Creek opposite where modern day Uniontown stands today but higher up onto rolling hills reaching out towards Cincinnati proper down upon launchers off riverbank onto larger sedges below – creek bed then home free & enjoyed by pioneer families until burned down by Indians helped incidentally start English Settlement efforts here & earliest European settler(s) also living nearby soon thereafter – good place for trade goods such as beads, cloth etc., buffalo meat being especially valuable due hunting opportunities available atop hills surrounding creek valley providing plenty cover fromThanksgiving Day Horse Parties “Aggies&Allies going wide open” says one source about those early days Site location changed quite often due hunter Quests & other activities taking place nearby including Mtn View Cemetery site just east & south banks main stream adjacent today Cliffs overlooking beautiful Scioto Valley interior (& eventually becoming part owned by Hamilton Electric Light Co.) Lots later developed around schoolhouse square lots facing Main Street almost opposite current location School House Square having first its dedication DecaturDay 1814 thenceforth known simply School House Place name change effective February 1st 1815 Scopes came soon thereafter Can anyone remember when first person saw telescope commercially? There must have been quite a few people who started using them starting back around this time too! One source says it may have been Dr Samuel Owens who built one likely using iron foundries near present day Harrisonburg Road just east side Bolton Rd northeast corner Middlerstownians like myself cherish memories associated with our hometown such as Pioneer Days events held annually at locations including Old Town Hall Square (site dedicated December 1st 1814), Cliffs Overlooking The Scioto Valley interior (site dedicated February 1st 1815), Stroll Down Main Street Saturday morning 5am -10am preceded by music playing all morning long courtesy Of Big Red Radio Dept Store upstairs) prior to classes beginning each day insideOld brick school building next door every Sunday afternoon offering free lunch for students attending public schools during weekdays thanks again to Mrs Anna Pappas Hardwick bootblack wife back then!), numerous cultural experiences offered throughout year away from grindin' things out everyday tryin' not get sick doin' things like watching sports Or go out clubbin' Thursdays night featuring live bands outdoors lively atmosphere so unique compared any other small town I've ever lived 'round these parts!)—several hundred plus individuals participated each year entire process took nearly two full months mere weeks elapsed between Various Events actually happening anywherewithin two thousand miles [?! big difference!] let me share something special happened recently while researching my paper…I discovered an old photo taken circa 1860 depicting individuals gathered around Prof David Brewster's new telescope situated atop Hill Top Ridge northeast cornerof village right next door ol' Scout Troop Headquarters currently occupied by members [sic]of RTA staff! The first church was dedicated on November 11th 1830 by Revs Gifford Beecher and James Wirtz with 400 people present including future President George Washington Woodruff The canal system connected the Scioto River to the Great Lakes via this town until it became dry during Prohibition which caused most industry to move out into larger cities such as Cleveland or Akron during that time period In 1956-1957 Middletown had an impact with its invention through Dr Burt Rutan when he developed his first jet aircraft using composite materials
