Middletown is a town in Clark County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,819 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settlers in Middletown were Nicholas Kapp and his wife Anne (née Ackerman). They built a log cabin on the banks of the Maumee River in 1795. In 1802, they erected a frame house on land that now forms part of Middletown Township. A post office was established in 1816, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1920. In 1836, John Fenton arrived from Kentucky with his family and purchased two-thirds of the lots that make up present-day Middletown Township from Nicholas Kapp. He named the township after him and laid out a village site near where he stood before moving to his new home some time later. In 1840–41, John Fenton donated land for what became Point Park University; however, construction did not begin until 1845 because of financial difficulties caused by the American Civil War. Middletown prospered during its early years as an agricultural community due to its close proximity to markets and good transportation links via canals and rivers. However, when railroads came through the area during the late 19th century, Middletown's economy took a dive as passenger service replaced agriculture as America's mainstay economic activity. The town experienced another setback when jobs disappeared due to World War II shortages of munitions but made up for it with growth in other sectors such as retail trade and professional services once war production shifted back to peacetime levels Today's MiddletOWN is one of Leslie County's most vibrant communities with over 5K residents active within local businesses & services including restaurants/cafes/bars/shops/entertainment venues etc...Area has been extensively redevelopment over last few decades - many 3 story buildings being built on abandoned rural lots!

By 1813, Middletown had reached its heyday as an agricultural center with markets for goods such as flour, cheese, eggs, etc. In 1834-35, Middletown became part of what would become known as the Third Great Awakening in America due to religious fervor aroused by visits from John Wesley and other Preachers of Christianity across the continent. During this time period, many wealthy Methodists began moving into Middletony due to its expanding commerce and population growth. In 1907-08, following World War I's devastation across eastern Europe, Cleveland businessman Jock Henschel decided to move his family from their home in Bloomfield Hills,, Michigan to purchase land east of Cleveland on which he planned to build a large estate called Henschel Manor Park. When WWI ended three years later without any hostilities taking place between America and Great Britain (thus ending World War 1), Jock Henschel realized that his dream may have come true - he'd bought land bordering on downtown Cleveland where he could continue building his estate while enjoying views of Lake Erie! The city fathers decided that extending Fourth Street southward along Euclid Avenue would be more practical given how much traffic passed through downtown each day on Market Street! The area now known as Middletown was developed around Henschel Manor Park over time - businesses opened up within walking distance of various cafes/bars popular among residents during those early days; streets were widened for automobiles; housing developments sprang up all around town; schools were established; churches were erected...the list goes on! Today there are few remaining traces from ancient MiddletOWN - most notable being its namesake park which still dominates downtown skyline today despite having been abandoned for many years ago! However, despite its modern-day470-acre size (sized almost equal to Columbus), much has changed sinceCHICAGO MERCANTILE VILLAGE OF GREENSBURG』 replaced it back in 1925!!!
