In 1924, Middleburg Heights made national headlines when it ratified its first municipal charter and became one of the twelve new cities in Ohio that year. During World War II,Middleburgh Heights played an important role in the war effort by providing munitions supplies to Allied forces. After the war ended, middleburgh heights experienced rapid growth once again with many businesses opening up and becoming major players in local economy. Middleburg Heights is a small town in the Summit County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,492 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Middleburg Heights was founded in 1786 by Captain John Middleburg and his family. The first settler named Middleburg had arrived there in 1785 from York Township, Pennsylvania. Captain Middleburg's son General James Middleburg moved to Ohio in 1813 and platted what became Middleburg Heights. He died in 1814 while leading a military expedition against the Shawnee Indians on the Scioto River near present day Kent State University. His nephew Major General George Washington Middleburgh took over command of the expedition and developed what would become known as "The Battle of Fallen Timbers" which helped win independence for Ohio from Great Britain. In 1824, Colonel David Neely organized an agricultural society here and set up a mill on Little Miami River which became one of the largest mills in Northwest America at that time. By 1830, most of today's buildings were built including School House No 2 (1830), Baptist Church (1833), Methodist Church (1836), Post Office (1840), Justice Center (1927), and many others during the late 19th century when Cleveland grew rapidly as an industrial center due to its natural resources and growth in transportation technology such as railways

Middleburg Heights is a neighborhood in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. The population was 3,717 at the 2010 census. Middleburg Heights is located on the east side of Cleveland, just south of I-675 and north of Euclid Avenue. It borders the neighborhoods of Stratholme to the north and west, Surrey to the south, Saginaw Valley to the east, and Shaker Heights to the south-east. The first settlers in Middleburg Heights wereenamely James Prentice and his family who arrived in 1797. Another early settler was John Brown who bought land around what is now known as Hastings Drive from Drury Landon in 1802. In 1805 John Ahern bought 2/3 mile (1 km) east of what is now Hastings Drive from Nicholas Gwynn for $5 per acre (0.24 ha). In 1812 George Washington Bainbridge purchased 1/2 mile (0.6 km) west of present day Stratholme Road from Nicholas Gwynn for $10 per acre (0.40 ha). In 1816 he sold 1/4 mile (0.8 km) west of present day Stratholme Road to Edward Hutton for $15 peracre (0.60 ha). In 1830 James Cuyahoga bought 1/4 mile (0.8 km) east of what is now Middleburg Heights Cemetery from Edward Hutton for $10 per acre (0.40 ha). He also acquired 4 lots along present day Euclid Avenue between Adams Street and State Route 22 for $25 each – these became known as "Bainbridge's Purchase." The first post office at Middleburg Heights was established on December 12, 1830 by order of President Andrew Johnson with David Green as Postmaster General because there were no mail carriers available at that time within reach with access to any town or village in Northeast Ohio other than Cleveland proper! The earliest surviving map dated February 3, 1861 shows an area bounded by Delaware Street on the north, Harrison Boulevard on the eastside, Public Square on Trumbull Avenue on their southern border - this would include much today's middleBURGH HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOODS
