In 1967, The Optical Shop merged with the Dayton Camera company to form The Dayton Camera Corporation. In 1991, Dayton Camera Corporation changed its name to American Optics Incorporated.

Miamisburg was named for John Milton Miamis and his father Amos Miamis. Miamisburg has a rich history that began with its founding in 1824 by John Milton Miamis and Amos Miamis. The two men were natives of Massachusetts and both contributed to the town's growth. In 1826, they established a store and mercantile business on Main Street in what is now the heart of the town. By 1830, their store had become one of the most important businesses in Miamisburg. John Milton Miamis also served as mayor from 1835 to 1840 and as justice of the peace from 1840 to 1850. He was an important figure in early Ohio politics and helped createWashington Township (now Shaker Heights) along with fellow Virginians Nathaniel Prentice Chase and Simon Cameron Tucker. In 1827, John Milton Miamis married Lucy Parsons (née Caldwell). They had three children: Susanna, who married George Henshaw; James; and Lucy Margaret Childs (later Mrs. Alfred Sibley), who married HiramBride Gardner Brushow Jr.. On October 1, 1830, John Milton died suddenly at age 44 after a long illness at home while he was visiting his wife Lucy in Philadelphia during her stay on vacation before returning to Ohio permanently with his new wife on November 9th less than two weeks later.* Lucy Parsons continued running her household until she moved into Mr.(thenMrs.) Brushow's house located southown east of Elmwood Avenue after her first husband's death six years earlier† She died there on March 6th 1880‡† After her deathLucy's estate passed through several hands before finally being sold for $10,-000 to Jno(e) Ewing Morse* which financed itself by creating four small townships stretching from Euclid allthe way downriverin Toledo area including West Chesterfield †† In 1902 Mrs.(then Miss.) Anna Ladd changed her last name to Morse when she became Mrs.(then Mrs.), but kept her maiden name which she still uses today
