Miamisburg was founded in 1817 by John Matson and his family from Connecticut. The town was named for its location on Miami River. In 1837, Miamisburg became an incorporated village and it remained an unincorporated community until 1991 when it became part of Mahoning County. The Village of Miamisburg contained a courthouse, jail, post office and two hotels which were used as stops on stagecoaches between Cincinnati and Cleveland. A water tower still remains in downtown Miamisburg which served as both a water main and pump station for local wells until 1984 when it was replaced by a modern facility In 1837, John Matson organized what would become the first agricultural society in Ohio through which he offered financial assistance to farmers who had experienced crop failures during the Great Famine of 1845-1846. In 1840, he donated land that now forms the nucleus of downtown Miamisburg. One year later he also gave away 155 acres (6 km²) to build what would become the first public school in Mahoning County In 1851–52, while serving as Mayor of Dayton, Ohio John Dyer built one of largest blocks houses ever constructed with fifty (50) stories using surplus lumber from his construction company across the street from today's old post office building Dyer's blocks house are still recognizable around town today thanks to their unique design combined with their large size; they remain some ofMahoning County's most popular tourist attractions Some other famous landmarks located within or close to Miamisburg include: The Masonic Temple (now home to the University Of Toledo), Pappas' Place restaurant where President Franklin D. Roosevelt ate his last meal before leaving for Japan during World War II, Rhodes Hall at Northern Kentucky University where law professor Robert Hoddle taught from 1952 until his death in 2003, Wistar Schoolhouse located just east off US-30 near Third Street NW which served as an early day primary school for African American children until 1970s when desegregation happened; Stroudsburg Presbyterian Church also located inside city limits adjacent to Factory Park High School which continues playdates there today despite protests by parents about playing outside during lunchtime

Miamisburg is a small town in theuy of Ohio, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lima-Canton-Miamisburg, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. Miamisburg was founded in 1828 on the east bank of the Scioto River by General Daniel Boone and his family. The town name comes from an Indian word meaning “camp ground on high ground”. The first settler in Miamisburg was John James who arrived in 1828. He built a log cabin on what is now State Road 9A north of Main Street and began trading with other settlers in this area. In 1830, James married Sarah Smith and they started a home near where current State Route 9 intersects Park Avenue today. By 1840, there were 10 families living in Miamisburg according to Township Records and it had become a village by 1845 when it had 10 plazas or streets with 3 churches (two Baptist and two Methodist). In 1847, Isaac Tyler bought land from George Loggins east of present day Park Avenue for $1,000 which he used for farm supplies, livestock and for improvements to his land including building a mill on the Scioto River that became known as Tyler's Mill. By 1850 there were 20 families residing in Miamisburg with some buildings dating back to 1820 such as Josephine House which still stands today along West Main Street between Court House Square & Sixth Avenue North. On October 6, 1800 Miamisburgh voted to secede from Hamilton County due to differences over taxation policies pursued by President George Washington’s appointees as well as debt owed by citizens to Hamilton County officials not meeting expectations set forth during boundary negotiations leading up to the War of 1812; however this vote did not result in any physical separation from Hamilton County but rather into what would later become Scioto Township (now Lima) under new government control headed by David Ladd who had served under Ulysses S Grant during Reconstruction following slavery’s end throughout much of America including Toledo & Cincy Territory before becoming its first white mayoralty holder November 8th 1870 having been elected unopposed after incumbent Hiram Seymour resigned due to ill health; however others within township felt compelled to secede again largely due its proximity militarily & economically theretofore uncontrolled growth especially since Miami Townshipwhich also lay adjacent both sides) reelected their respective township leaders despite lack military support received thereby paving way for annexation resulting ultimately into present day miamishberg
