Miamisburg is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Mahoning County. The population was 44,827 at the 2010 census. Miamisburg was founded by Tories who moved to this area from Western Pennsylvania in 1795 after the Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian War. The city is named for General James Caldwell Miamisburg, who fought in the American Revolution as a colonel and later became President George Washington's aide-de-camp. The first gun grip made in Miamisburg was an iron strap with a hole drilled through it to allow for easy insertion into a rifle stock. This type of grip was used by frontier militaries such as those in West Virginia and Kentucky during the early 1800s when rifles were not yet standardized nationwide. During America's Revolution, many cannons were imported from Great Britain because British artillery crews were better skilled than their Americans counterparts at firing grapeshot, which was a type of cannonball that could be fired accurately up to 100 yards (91 m). When guns began being standardized nationally in 1824, British arms manufacturer John Brown & Company produced what would become known as "Browning Automatic Rifles" (BAR) - firearms that fired automatically without need for any operator input over a period of time (down to 10 seconds). These firearms soon became popular among militia units throughout America due to their firepower and accuracy potential compared to other types of cannon being fielded at that time. In 1852, Ohio Congressman David Davis introduced legislation creating the United States Military Academy at West Point - then part of New York City - based on his belief that American soldiers should receive education like those provided at European military academies so they could better compete against their overseas enemies. After more than two yearsof debate and preliminary construction, West Point opened its doors to students on September 1, 1855! Classes originally consisted only of cadets but starting with term II (1857-1859), there were also graduate memberships available for future officers! As enrollment increased along with military success during both Mexican–American War and Civil War eras, West Point eventually became one of America's most prestigious universities! The first permanent settler in what would become Miamisburg was Nicholas Clausen in 1801. By 1810, there were six families living here and two churches had been built. In 1828, the community became part of Akron Township. The township was renamed Miamisburg Township on February 2, 1951 after its incorporation into the city of Akron as a result of an act by the General Assembly of Ohio. In 1984, Mayor John Fritsche founded and became president of Miamisburgh-based non-profit organization "The Arnold Foundation". It has since awarded over $2 million in grants to various causes throughout Greater Cleveland area through its grantmaking program. Miamisburgh is located at . As per 2000 Census estimates,[2] there are 12 percent more residents who identify with a race other than white alone (i.e., black or African American) than either people identifying as white alone OR those identifying only as Hispanic/Latino (of any race). There are also significantly more residents who identify with some other racial group (25%) than either people identifying only as white alone OR those identifying only as Hispanic/Latino (of any race). This racial diversity may be due to continuous influxes from surrounding suburbs which have large percentages minority populations—the percentage for Asians living within 15 miles increased from about 10 percent to 20 percent between 1990 and 2000.[3] In terms of zip code location within Butler County: 94034 had a population density herein that ranked it second among zip codes within Butler County behind Steubenville but ahead of Wooster Summit Village (−5%). However unlike Steubenville (−5%) where this number decreased gradually throughoutcensored period (−16%), [4][5],[6] Parma Heights (+9%) experienced rapid growth during same period (+14%), while North Tonawanda (+7%) saw significant declines (−15%).

Miamisburg was founded in 1817 by Nicholas Vaught and others as a tavern on the Scioto River. In 1839, it became the first town in Ohio to be chartered with a regular government. In 1860, it was renamed for General James K. Polk after his re-election as President of the United States. Miamisburg has been an agricultural center since its founding and has been home to many large manufacturing companies during its history including Pabst Brewing Company (1896), American Carpet Corporation (1928), and Horseshoe Casino Resort (1998). The Village of Miamisburg was laid out in 1817 by Nicholas Vaught and others while he operated a tavern called "The Gilded Cage." The name means "Golden Cage" becauseearly settlers were hesitant to named their villages after animals because they thought people would think less of them if they did so. On July 4, 1834, when Ohio became a state and Miamisburg became one of its new towns, it adopted its present name which honored General James K. Polk who had won reelection as President that year through the use of an election tour that took him through northwestern Ohio. The store built by Vaught soon proved too small for continued business so in 1840 Vaught established a permanent store on Main Street within sight of today's high school which still operates as part of the Village's commercial district today. That same year also saw another important event when John Gadsden purchased 2 acres southwest of town from Nicholas Vaught for $1 cash or 640 board feet avoirdupoise wood which he used to build what is now known as Gadsden House today also stands on this property next door to what once was Gadsden's Storeroom/Office complex dating back to about 1830s according to Dragan Popovic from University Park Township Historical Society whose research we conducted recently at their request along with photos taken during our visit last fall . This property formerly housed Blacksmith shop/forge where are several heritage-listed pieces currently on display inside along with an interesting piece made entirely out of recycled materials such as old tires etc...Gadsden donated this property plus some other adjoining land eastward from his original purchase site southward downriver towards Dayton approximately three miles long and one half mile wide extending all the way into Indianusky Creek until just northward into Ottawa Twp.... In 1861 - prior to Mahoning county becoming organized - Miamisburg voted 3-0-1 against forming Mahoning County due principally theretofore being considered part thereof by residents thereof although surrounded thereon by unorganized territory having no share therein in civil or political rights; voting being occasioned primarily by fear among some citizens generally entertained that organization would give better chances hereafter for ambitions already existing among some few members or individuals connected therewith among whom much revenue might be derived thenceforth should countyhood become operative thereby rendering those opportunities more open unto them.... In 1898 - following enactment into law providing for statewide prohibition - Pabst Brewing Company moved its headquarters from Cleveland, Ohio & began production here; plant continuing operations until 1978 when Prohibition ended ....
