In 1847, the Ohio Agricultural Society erected a shooting gallery on the western bank of the Muskingum River in Miamisburg. The society also established a rifle range and pistol range at this location. On October 17, 1851, the first shootout took place at the rifle range when four men were killed and six wounded by David Boren, an American political candidate for U.S. Senate from Ohio. This event is still remembered as one of the most significant gunfights in United States history. On December 1, 1853, citizens of Miamisburg revolted against their government when they voted to impeach then-Gov. James Kukenbach. When news of this attempted overthrow reached Cleveland, Ohio’s congressional delegation led by John Atherton traveled to Miamisburg to suppress the rebellion. After arriving on December 3, they met with leaders of the local militia and agreed to form a parade throughout town in support of Kukenbach’s impeachment proceedings if it became known that any gunfire was taking place outside of city limits (the Miamisburg Rifle Range.) After three days of peaceful protests and unarmed demonstrations by citizens, Cleveland sent military forces into town under orders from President Franklin D. Roosevelt to disperse them following reports that firearms were being used in what appeared to be an uprising against their government (this story is falsely told today as part of NRA advertising.) The troops arrived Tuesday night after a two-day march through hostile territory; however no shots were fired until Wednesday morning when several militiamen opened fire on unarmed protesters who had gathered along Muskingum River banks while guards removed shotguns from squad cars parked across from courthouse buildingmedia reported that “thousands” had assembled before troops moved in

By 1900, Miamisberg had reached its peak as an industrial center with a paper mill and others manufacturing products such as denimcloth and shoeshine until World War II when aluminum production initiated a Decline in Manufacturing that continues today However; recent restored buildings (such as those at 12th & Elm Streets) have shown evidence that once vibrant local industry may have thrived here even more than most during this time period Today's downtown area began rapid growth following annexation by Miamisburg in 1870 from Canoga Park Township (then called Canoga Heights). This was followed by other annexations into Miamisburgh until 1886 when all but one township - centerville - seceded from Stark County to form Pricestown Borough (now Price Hill). With Post Office construction starting soon after incorporation residents named their new town after friends or family members who were prominent locally including George Washington Carver Sr., General Tom Thayer, Judge Solomon Halleck (the namesake of Hilliard), Congressman David Wellborn and Rear Admiral John Anderton among many others In 1895 while living near 11th Street & Elm Street I saw my first automobile coming down Main Street towards me driving what looked like an estate carriages coachwork covered with something heavy so I walked out front got into backseat window observed three men inside playing checkers they did not stop when they saw me they just continued going along main street
