Miamisburg is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Henry County. Miamisburg was founded in 1813 by John Sellers as an agricultural village on the Scioto River, about 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Athens, Ohio. The population was 27 at the 2010 census. Miamisburg is located at (42.827583, -87.810394). It is bordered to the southeast by Athens, to the north by Carroll Township, and to the west by Ottawa Township. The Scioto River forms its southern border and shares its name with a small stream that flows through it before joining the Maumee River just south of Miamisburg proper. The first permanent settler in what would become Miamisburg was John Sellers who arrived from Maryland in 1813 and erected a log cabin on what is now Third Street near where he later built his farmstead called "Sellersville". He established a store and post office there with six other settlers in 1814 before moving his business upstream to what would become First Street which he named for his daughter Sarah Sellers Helmsley after she married him that year. In 1821, John Purdy moved from Perrysburg, Pennsylvania to begin construction on what would become Miamisburg's first courthouse- currently known as Court House Square- next door to Sellers' house which he had also built earlier that decade using logs brought overland from Kentucky via Virginia Beach Road (now US 30). In 1830, when Ohio became a state, Miamisburg became part of Henry County under territorial jurisdiction but remained unincorporated until 1840 when it incorporated as a town under an act approved by the General Assembly of Ohio.. When Cincinnati began expanding rapidly into Indiana Territory during the years leading up to Indian Removal in 1830-31, much of Henry County followed suit including parts of MiamisBURG including present day Ottawa Township . Between 1830 and 1840 about 3/4 mile (~1 km) south of present day Fifth Street along Washington Avenue between Vine Street/Jefferson Road and Commerce Drive were laid out lots for settlers who came primarily from Kentucky . These early settlers were largely farmers with some land speculators among them who developed mills around historic downtown MiamISBURG powered by water power from Spring Creek having been discovered near where MainStreet meets Washington Avenue back then . By 1850 most residents had either left or changed their residence within limits set forth by law so incorporation did not occur until 1840 due mostly to political maneuvering surrounding Cincinnati's burgeoning industrial base following becoming self-governing within federal territory

Miamisburg is a small town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,878 at the 2000 census. It is the smallest of the five towns in Columbiana County and is located about 15 miles (24 km) north of downtown Columbus. The town was founded by James Hinton in 1814 as part of a larger community called Miamisburg Village. In 1827, Hinton sold his share of Miamisburg Village to John Crampton and others for $1,000. The new owners built a gristmill on the river near what is now the village square. On January 10, 1830, Miamisburg became one of eight villages formed under the charter of the Ohio General Assembly to provide land for education within their territory. Miamisburgh passed from private ownership to state control in 1836 when it was incorporated as a township under that state's "Township system." The township's first mayor was John Crampton (1810-1872). In 1865-66, Miamisburgh erected two large tanneries which produced leather used in shoes and other clothing items until they were replaced by electric power in 1927. In 1896-97, Miamisburgh erected three large Congregational churches: First Presbyterian Church (built 1892), Second Presbyterian Church (built 1896), and Third Presbyterian Church (built 1903). In 1927-28, after years of engineering work by local residents including Wm. Kappeler and Orville Ellerbe Jr., construction began on two Interurban railways serving Miamisburgh: The Cincinnati & Dayton Railway Company line via Terre Haute and Mansfield transactions with Indiana Central Railroad Company line via Youngstown; both lines opened November 1st 1928
