Mentor, Ohio is home to one of the first high capacity kit production plants in the United States. The Mentor plant was founded in 1958 by the J.B. Hunt Company and produced kits for Ford Taurus and Mercury Mariner vehicles. At its peak, the plant produced more than 500,000 kits per year. In 1963, the Mentor plant was closed down due to a lack of demand for high capacity kits and subsequent failure of several other J.B. Hunt companies products. However, the legacy of this facility has live on through numerous other companies that have produced high capacity kit products in Mentor over the years including Dorman Inc., Parker Hannifin Corporation, and Groves Manufacturing Company

This makes installation much easier and eliminates the need for special tools or adapters

Mentor, Ohio is a town in Holmes County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Mentor was Abram G. Hutton on July 1, 1810. He arrived with his family from Maryland and erected a cabin on the Scioto River. The Hutton name is still present in the community today and it is one of only a few remaining communities in Holmes County that retains its original namesakes. In 1827, John Mathers settled in Mentor and built the first frame building in what is now downtown. In 1870, A.G. Hutton's widow donated land to build a schoolhouse which served as the town's first library until 1906 when it became part of the University of Michigan main campus. From 1892 to 1904, Mentor was home to two mayors: Wm Ellington (1892-94) and Augustus Crain (1904-6). In 1901, Revd Dr Samuel Denton founded St Luke’s Episcopal Church which remains an important part of the community today. The village post office was established at this time and continues service to this day; however, mail delivery stopped operations due to World War I until 1945 when it resumed using a local truck service called "the Express" which now runs year-round between Mentor Village Hall and Mishawaka Township Hall across from US 41A exit 38B near milepost 9½ on Old Erie Road.) During World War II many buildings were destroyed or damaged bybombing but most notably the old brick factory located on High Street where thousands of bricks were produced for use throughout North America including those used by both General Motors and Ford Motor Company plants in Detroit Michigan during that war period..
