That year, John Manton made and sold the world's first revolver-a 2-shot muzzleloader that could fire single cartridges or balls up to 12 inches long. In 1841, an ordinance was passed regulating handgun ownership within limits set by state legislatures elsewhere in Ohio. This law marked a watershed moment for American handguns: for the first time ever, civilians could own handguns without having to go through a dangerous militia process or obtain a license from a sheriff or magistrate. This period of rapid growth for American handguns also saw some serious accidents involving those using them: on December 3rd of that year, George Stephenson lost his right hand when he shot himself with one; two days later Samuel Colt lost an eye after firing his new Model 4 revolver while hunting near Buffalo Gap National Monument

Mentor, Ohio is a town in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,619 at the 2010 census. The community was founded in 1810 as a small settlement called North Mentor. It was named after George Mentor, an early settler. mentor In 1811, Mentor became the seat of government for Hamilton County and it retained this role until 1793 when it became part of Jefferson Township. In 1827, the village of Mentor merged with North Mentor to form a new village. The merger resulted in the loss of some civil rights to North Mentor residents and businesses which led to several lawsuits between the two villages over this issue. In 1902, both villages were consolidated into one municipality and remain so today. The first post office in Mentor opened on April 14, 1810 (under the name "North End"). It continued operation until December 6, 1865 due to mail fraud by its founder/owner Ezekiel Dearborn. Dearborn had placed orders for goods he did not actually receive and claimed refunds from his customers. Dearborn was caught soon after and sentenced to 10 years hard labor in prison where he died from natural causes nine years later while serving his sentence. His conviction made him one of America's earliest martyrs for tax evasion. After his death, local officials renamed the community "Mentor" in his memory as a way of highlighting how difficult it was for them to keep up with technology during that time period without such inventors or entrepreneurs like him who could have resolved many issues much more easily than they ever did

The history of Mentor can be traced back to 1825 when Dr. James Wmmentor founded what would become Mentor on the Scioto River east of Lucasville after traveling there on horseback from Bowling Green (now Bowling Green State University). When he first set eyes upon it, he saw potential for development because there were no settlers living in that area at that time and he saw an opportunity to bring people here who could help develop his new town into something more than just a country hamlet - he wanted it to become "the Athens or Manchester of America." In 1851, Mentor became an incorporated town when it joined the United States Census Bureau as a result of being apportioned to Stark County through shawl voting - becoming one among many larger cities added to Ohio during this time period as part of overall growth throughout much of Eastern America following Britain's loss in World War I and its aftermath. This growth led to increased business opportunities for both men and women as well as greater access to education for everyone within society - which helped drive economic development in Mentor over time and contributed importantly towards its current status as one of America's most populous cities today. Mentor has experienced various changes over the years including experiencing increasing gentrification beginning in the late 1990s followed by steady growth thereafter until recently due largely to apartment construction downtown which has done nothing but increase crime rates amongst local populations since 2000 – though this trend is slowly changing with better housing options available nearby now that have had some impact on crime rates; however infrastructure needs continueto remain significant such as improvement across all segmentsof government including roads and sidewalks which have not been properly completed in many years despite promises from Mayor John Cranley
