Mentor, Ohio is home to a number of gun magazines that have been in business for over 100 years. These magazines are some of the oldest in the area and their history can be traced back to when Mentor was first settled by American Indians. There were three gun shops in town at the time, and these shops sold firearms to Native Americans and other residents. The first gun magazine in Mentor was started by a man named John Cramer in 1876. The store was located on Second Street between Park Avenue and State Street. It was operated as a general store and featured both handguns and rifles. At one point, there were more than 50 stores operating in Mentor at the time. The Second World War saw a boom in the sales of guns in Mentor. After the war, people began buying weapons again and demand for guns grew even greater. Between 1949 and 1966, Mentor had nineteen gun magazines that sold pistols, shotguns, rifles, shotguns with barrels over 26 inches long, airguns, bowies/crossbows, automatic pistols (Lasers), armor piercing rounds (AP ammo), hunting knives/staves/spears/, machetes/knives/, powder kegs/, axes/, spears/. . .and MORE! In 1966 alone, mentor had twenty-one different types of firearms available for purchase from its gun magazines!

Mentor, Ohio is a small town located in the southern portion of the state of Ohio. The population was 5,651 at the 2010 census. It lies within modern-day Butler County and portions of current Mentor Township date back to 1795. The first settler in Mentor was John Atwater, who arrived in 1817. Atwater's son, Isaac Atwater, founded what is now Mentor Township on land that he purchased from the Ottawa Indian tribe in 1825. The township became part of Butler County when it was formed from parts of Lucas and Pickering counties in 1827. In 1829, a school preliminary meeting was held at which developer James Cushing offered to create a one-room schoolhouse with 30 pupils for $10 per year. The first public school opened its doors to students on September 1, 1830. By 1840, there were three schools in the township: an academy (now Tri-County Academy), a common schools (now OSU East) and a high school (now Northern Kentucky University). In 1842–43, construction began on additions to both the high school and academy – including a new wing and roof overhang for the academy that served as an initial model for later universities. Mentor experienced great growth during the 19th century due to its location within easy access to transportation by wagon train and horseback trailheads as well as its highly developed agricultural economy based around raising corn and other crops. Manufacturing also grew rapidly throughout this period; boatbuilding being particularly prominent among these businesses. In 1881, oil well drilling commenced near Mentor; this led to rapid economic development for the area as various industry sprang up catering specifically to oil interests such as manufacturing automobiles and trucks along with related wholesale trade services such as grocery delivery/transportation etc., which helped contribute significantly towardsMENTOR'S DECLINE AS A COMMUNITY IN THE 20TH CENTURY BUT ITS SURPRISING resurgence DESPITE THIS TRADITIONAL FAST FALL IN INDUSTRY AND BUSINESS ACTIVITY

Mentor, Ohio is a small town in the heart of the United States. The population was 5,571 at the 2010 census. It is located in central Stark County on the fringe of Cleveland. It lies along the Cuyahoga River and is bordered by Mentor to the east and north, Defiance to the west, Alliance to the south and Holmesburg to the southeast. The name "Mentor" comes from a Shawnee word meaning "place where he looked out." The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Mentor were French soldiers traveling through central Ohio in 1701-02. They named a nearby stream after Jean Baptiste Chasseur de la Salle, who had been sent by France as an envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for Indian Affairs. The area that would become Mentor was first settled by Native Americans – most notably the Miami Indians – around 1000 A.D. There are several accounts of Dutch traders coming through this area during this time as well. In 1688, Jameson gave land near present-day Mentor to one Isaac Morley in recognition of his help with leading British forces against Chief Wyandotte's war party some years earlier. Morley made many trading trips downriver throughout those early days before he finally established himself as a self-sufficient farmer about 1710A.D.. By 1800, there were over 20 settlers living hereabouts including Samuel Metcalf who erected what is now known as Metcalf's Store on High Street (now First Avenue) in 1806; John Brown built his home on present day Adams Avenue just east of High Street; and James Vickers founded Vickers' grocery store at 520 Park Avenue (now Second Avenue) about 1815A.-1816A.. About 1830A., two families –the Van Deusters and Smiths – began purchasing tracts of land Lots 1 & 2 on Elm Road between Market Square and State Route 62 (present day East Drive), which formed what would become downtownmentioning streetscape today: Van Deuster Boulevard (northwest side), Smith Boulevard (southwest side), Erie Canal/Highway 401 Business Loop (east side), Main Street/Adams Avenues/Second Ave./Park Ave.(west side). During these years also came residential development such as Iron Works House built about 1840 on lots 4 & 5 next door to Folsom Institute operated by Drury Brothers; Masonic Temple built about 1840 across from today's Hardesty Furniture factory; Smith Academy built about 1850 adjacent to Stroud House Hotel which still stands today - it became a high school until 1972 when it became known simply as “Mentor University” In 1853 when Ohio became a state, much like other western states then having admission requirements for college degrees only through major universities like Western Kentucky University or Colorado College etc.,Ohio decided that its citizens should have access too college education so allow public schools within reach including rural areas like Mentor where few if any colleges stood This desire for more education among society’s members led Governor John Pemberton appointed Amos Tilden Vice President of Education for Ohio while simultaneously creating various commissions charged with studying higher education issues One commission resulted from this appointment specifically chaired by Judge William Gaylord which studied ways vocational training might be introduced into Toledo’s public Schools Thanks largely to Judge Gaylord’s efforts numerous farms surrounding downtown Toledo received tenement dwellings starting approximately 1860 providing housing for students attending local institutions such as Teachers Training School No 1 opened at 222 West State Route 62 circa 1865 under directorship of Rev Wm G H Dowling ; Industrial Development Board report dated 3rd May 1895 recommending establishment of Technical Institute No 6 building site opposite corner OF State Routes 422 AND 630 at intersection Of Third And Fourth Streets mentored by Mrs Jno E B Aspinwall housed students learning carpentry Apprentice Classes taught therein since its inception . . . Today we enjoy our beautiful downtown core complete with parks that used to surround our original town square all thanks To Our Judgeship!
Mentor was founded in 1812 by Nicholas Mentor. The town of Mentor, Ohio was named for the mentor. The first school in the town was built in 1814 by Nicholas and his son John. In 1865, the Mentor School District was established and the Mentor Academy became a part of it. In 1951, the Mentor School District merged with the Gahanna-Marietta School District to form the present day Mentor-Gahanna School District.
