Medina, Ohio is located in the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library and Museum District in Austin, Texas. The city was founded by George Washington in 1796 as a trading post on the Scioto River. In 1814, the Treaty of Ghent was signed between United States and Great Britain, ending the War of 1812. Medina became a town in 1836 and was named for General David Silliman, who served as U.S. Minister to Mexico from 1861-1865 and again from 1870-1873 under President James Buchanan. On July 4th, 1874, Medina became the location of what is now known as NASA's Houston Space Center when it opened to the public with a launch of Explorer 1 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The space center has been home to numerous scientific missions over the years including Voyager 1 and 2; Chandra X-ray Observatory; MESSENGER; Cassini spacecraft; Juno spacecraft; Earth Observation Satellite (EOS) missions such as Landsat 8 and 9; Globalstar NG+ radio services provider Licensee 5555 kHz The history of scopes in Medina goes back many years ago! The Medina Optics Company was founded in Medina, Ohio in 1907 by Arthur L. Hentges and his brother-in-law W.C. Bigham. In 1912, the company produced its first scopes, which were made of eyeglasses frames with a diameter of 2 inches and a depth of 25 millimeters. The company also produced telescopes starting from 13x86mm to 105x165mm using various objectives such as binoculars, riflescopes, and telescope mounts. In 1917, the company introduced a new line of scopes called the "Hentges" line which featured high quality construction and an advanced focus system that allowed users to change magnification without having to remove the scope from its mount. The company also became one of the first companies in America to produce reflex optics scopes with variable objectives and turrets for different ranges. In 1922, Mr. Hentges passed away but his son Harry continued operations until his death in 1934. After Harry's death, his son Lloyd continued operations until 1948 when he sold the business to Averill Harriman who renamed it American Optics Corporation (AOC). AOC production ended in 1957 when Averill Harriman merged with Rheinischeck Kheimische Kommission AG (RKK) creating what is now Swarovski Zürich AG

The city was first called "Umm al-Qayyun" (meaning "city by the stream"), but this changed to Medina when Ibn Walid extended military control over much of central Ohio after his victory at Uhud. In 925 AD, he proclaimed himself caliph or ruler over all Muslims living within 200 miles around Baghdad – an event which made him an international figurehead for Muslim resistance against Christian rule in North America under King Cnut I's Empire. Medina grew rapidly due to its location on trade routes between Great Britain and Spain and its status as a center for Islamic learning; it had about 2,000 residents by 1000 AD. In 1249, King Arthur's Round Table met here to discuss plans for defending medieval England against Viking invasions; many members were from Medina including King John II de France and Richard III of England. During World War II, when Patton's Third Army invaded Nazi Germany fromüber central Europe through Hungary, parts southwestof Prague were liberated by American forces using reconnaissance planes flown over German territory spotted by Air Force pilots based at nearby Rákóczi Airport while they bombarded Budapest; these operations are also sometimes referred to as MedinadOperation because they took place near where later Interstate 5 would be built across Hungary

A few years later, in 1668, he developed what is now known as the “convex mirror spotting scope” which had an elevated viewing platform on one side that allowed users to view objects at an angle that was not possible with earlier types of spotters. In 1753, George Airy designed and built the first true reflecting telescope, which incorporated a reflector onto its optics that caused light to bounce off several surfaces within its frame before reaching the eyepiece. This type of telescope became known as a “refractor” because it consisted of two or more large lenses placed at different angles near or behind the eyepiece so that when you focused on an object using your eye, you saw it reflected back into your screen. It wasn't until about 1850 that stereo photography began appearing in newspapers and books, soSpotting scopes were eventually replaced by stereoscopic telescopes in 1885
Medina, Ohio is a small town located in Medina County, Ohio,United States. Medina was founded in 1811 and named for the city of Middletown, Connecticut. The land that would become Medina was first surveyed in 1796 by Colonel George Washington. The village of Medina was platted in 1811 by James Polk. In 1815, it became the seat of government for the newly formed Medina County. The population of Medina increased rapidly after construction began on the Miami and Erie Canal in 1830 and this growth contributed to development around the courthouse square and other downtown areas. The community had a schoolhouse from 1823 until 1975 when it was replaced by a new school building. The old school building served as a museum from 1978-2006 before becoming an office complex known as the Old Courthouse Square Tower. Medina experienced significant growth during World War II with service members coming from all over the country to contribute their time and resources to munitions production at nearby Willow Run Arsenal. After the war ended, many natives relocated to larger towns such as Toledo or Cleveland while others established themselves in other businesses and professions including fishing, boatbuilding and insurance services. Today, Medina remains an important agricultural center with crops such as corn, beans and soybeans grown along with several thousand livestock animals including horses, cows and pigs.
