Medina, Ohio is a small town in the heart of Buckeye State. The population was 5,584 at the 2010 census. Medina is located on the Scioto River and is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Area. It lies just east of downtown Dayton, between I-675 and I-71. The village of Medina was laid out in 1836 by Captain James A. Wilkinson as part of a grant from General George Washington to Christopher Gadsden for land along the Scioto River. In 1838, Medina became an incorporated Village under the name of "Bedford". The first post office was established in 1840 at what is now Fifth Street and University Avenue. In 1846, Medina became a county seat due to its location on county lines at that time. In 1892, a large mill called "The Jordan" was built on Third Street near present day Elmira Road by Jethro Tilton and John Coyle; it operated until 1923 when it burned down. The mill left behind many tools including anvils, hammers, chisels and other woodworking tools which are still in use today by local residents and businesses alike. In 1914–15, Medina's first school opened with six students; it would later become known as Woodridge Elementary School (now part of Monroe Community Schools). In 1922–23, construction began on what would eventually become Medina High School; groundbreaking occurred on September 25th that year! The school opened its doors to grades 9 through 12 in 1924/25! From its beginnings until his death in 1970/, Mr. George Hinton ( Superintendent) led our Alma Mater through many changes - even becoming co-educational! With much success they started playing football against nearby Highland Heights High School during halftime back then! After his passing we took over running this beloved program while Mrs./Mrs Blanche Aiken served as President pro tempore from 1972 – 1984 before being succeeded by my predecessor Donna Ladd who currently serves as Vice President/Dean for Academic Affairs since she assumed her current role effective Fall 2017 !!!!!!!!! We also have our own golf course here too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Medina is a city in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 8,709 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland–Akron–Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area. Medina was founded in 1811 by George Washington and his sons George and James as part of the Miami Purchase. The first settler in Medina was Nicholas Wadsworth who arrived in 1786 with his family from Connecticut. He ranched out land here until 1800 when he sold it to Peter Higginbotham for $1,000. In 1806, John Copley bought ten acres of Medina property from Wadsworth for $200. In 1810, Daniel Boone came through this area on his way to become the first European settler south of the Great Lakes region. He found a fur trading post and built a cabin here that served as his headquarters for many years afterwards. John Fenton purchased land adjoining Higginbotham's farm in 1830 for £100 ($ ). He began farming there and became one of the most successful farmers in Medina County with over 100 acres (40 hectares) corn and wheat crops each year by 1840. Fenton also raised horses, cows and pigs which were used by him and other farmers on their properties throughout much of central Ohio during this time period. In 1854 he donated some land to build what would become known as "Fenton Park." This park includes a large nature reserve that Today houses more than 200 species of plants and animals! In 1850s-1860s two important railway projects were undertaken within close proximity to Medina; one being the construction of the Erie Railroad through Akron into Canada while another being an extension/widening of Canal Road eastward from Akron into Delaware County which later became Union Township near Allentown PA
Medina was founded in 1792 by Captain John Medina and his wife, Susannah. The first post office was founded in Medina on November 15, 1806. Medina is the current capital of the United States of America and has been since 1792.
