Knives have been a part of Medina, Ohio for over two hundred years. The first knives were made by the Native Americans in the area. The first settler to live in Medina was Peter Krieger in 1794. He started a farm and had a knife shop on his property. Later, John Deere built a house in Medina and started selling vegetables. One of Deere's sons, John Hagerty, bought the shop and continued to sell vegetables until he died in 1912. In 1916, George Wickersham became the owner of the store and changed its name to Wickersham's Knife Works. In 1924, Harry Jorgensen bought the business and kept it running until he passed away in 1961. From then on, the business was run by his son-in-law Bob Jorgensen until Bob's death in 1984. At Bob's death, ownership passed to his nephew Rick Jorgensen who ran it until 2000 when it was sold to Loyd Larson who operates it today as Medina Bladesmiths Incorporated. Medina has had many different types of knives since they first appeared! There are now several different styles that are popular around here such as fixed blades (such as machetes), semi-automatic knives (such as handguns), carving knives (such as hatchets), Bowie type knives (which areSimilar to axes), huntingknives (such as bowsies) and more! Medina, Ohio is a small town located in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 3,751 at the 2010 census. Medina is part of the Toledo–Middletown, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area and is located within Lucas County. Medina was founded in 1837 by Daniel Boone and named for his wife Mary who died in 1839. The first store in Medina opened in 1847. The current town hall was built in 1903 and it is one of only two townships in Lucas County that have its own government rather than relying on Lima Township for services such as education, public welfare, fire protection and waste removal. Medina has a wide variety of businesses including restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores and professional offices. In 2009-2010 Medina invested over $5 million into new infrastructure with projects such as a new library/theatre complex, an interchange with I-275/I-475 and resurfacing of all roads within the township limits

The first permanent settler in Medina was Jobn Burt who arrived in 1792. earliest known Indian settlement on the site was by some members of the Miami tribe and their allies about 1795 near what is now the intersection of High Street and Elm Street. A post office called Medina was established in 1800, and continued until 1906. The name Medina has been used for many places throughout its history: 1) A town in Venango County, Pennsylvania; 2) An unincorporated community located in Stark County, Ohio; 3) A village located in Butler County, Pennsylvania; 4) A borough located in Lawrenceburg Township, West Virginia; (now an incorporated municipality); 5) An unincorporated community located within Summit Township limits of Akron, Ohio; and6) A school district located within Summit Township limits of Akron
Medina was founded in 1788 by Captain John Sellers and his wife, Sarah. The first store was built on the present site of Medina Elementary School. Medina became a village in 1834 and a city in 1871. In 1916, the City of Medina merged with the larger town of Findlay to form the current municipality.
