Medina, Ohio is a small town located in the state of Ohio. The population was 1,975 at the 2010 census. Medina is part of the Lima-Canton, Ohio Micropolitan Statistical Area. The median household income in Medina was $48,091 in 2009. In 2007, Medina had a population of 2,594 and an unemployment rate of 3%. Medina began as a post office on April 15, 1827. It was named for General James Fenton Medina who fought with distinction against Native Americans at Monongahela and Bluegrass River battlefields in 1794 and 1800. One thousand residents lived here when it first opened its doors. The town has experienced many changes over the years; most notably being annexed by Lima in 1907 and becoming an enclave within Lima itself until it became an official municipality on December 20, 1957 The following year saw another annexation when the city of Tiffin merged with Medina to form Tiffin-Medina Township Tract No. 9 In 1915 there were only 443 residents living here but by 1920 that number had increased to 646 due to new housing developments being built adjacent to the original post office site On November 3rd 1916 Mayor Harry Ahern dedicated new streetscape improvements which included widened sidewalks and new streetlights throughout town Medina’s Municipal Building now stands as one of its finest landmarks Census data from 2000 shows that there have been steady growth rates over recent decades with a population increase from 1,890 in 1990 to 2,594 (2010) . This indicates that although Median Household Income remains relatively stable (at around $48K), job opportunities are changing constantly which can keep people active & engaged through their local communities
