Gun protection history in Medina, Ohio began with the establishment of a law enforcement chapter for the town in 1892. Medina was one of the first communities in the United States to adopt a municipal ordinance that regulated firearms. The ordinance also established a registry of firearms owners and required gun safety inspections. In 1903, Medina amended its Municipal Code to include regulations governing firearm possession and use. The ordinance became effective on July 1, 1903. In 1947, Medina passed an ordinance regulating handgun ownership and use which became effective September 1, 1947. The ordinance prohibited the carrying of handguns except when carried by licensed law enforcement officers or during performance of their duties as defined by law. It also created a registry of handgun owners and required gun safety inspections annually. In 1969, Medina repealed its handgun prohibition order which had been in effect since 1923. On April 14, 1984, then- Mayor Tom Hickey proposed an amendment to the City Charter that would have allowed concealed carry without a license for those who possessed less than twenty-four weapons per year and were not convicted of felonies or misdemeanors involving firearms. After much discussion among city council members and community leaders, the amendment was defeated 44-3 on May 30th due to public outcry from opponents who argued that this would condone violence against innocent people with no connection to crime or terrorism. In 2001, Medina made national headlines when it became one of only two U .S . cities (the other being Baltimore) to pass resolution supporting same-sex marriage statewide before statehood occurred within the United States On November 5th 2008 at 6:00 p .m., after more than five years deliberation over 600 pages of submissions from all sides including business organizations representing 5500 local jobsites within 500 miles radius of Columbus Ohio , City Council voted 3-2 in favor stating "We Declare We Are Equal And Can Adopt A Same Sex Marriage."

Medina is a town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. Medina is part of the Cincinnati–Middletown–Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on the southern edge of Dayton and adjacent to the city of Cincinnati. A post office called Medina was established in 1814, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. The name likely comes from an allusion to Bedouin traders who had come through this area during the 1800s. The first settler in Medina was John Elliott, who arrived around 1810. By 1812, there were six families living here. In 1813-1815, three more families moved into the township; these were Isaac Greenough (1813-1815), Nathaniel Cook (1815-1817), and Samuel French (1816-1820). This growth continued as settlers came into Medina over time: by 1830 there were twenty-eight families living here. In 1830, Congress passed a bill providing for land grants to farmers within 3 miles of Philadelphia on the Scioto River Valley; this legislation became known as "The Gadsden Purchase." The land grant program was designed to promote agricultural development in central Ohio by giving farmers access to acres of fertile ground that would be unavailable to them through other means – such as forest or swamp coverage – and ensure their survival as a rural minority against larger landowners with better transportation options and deeper pockets. Leading up to its implementation, individual commissioners toured various areas throughout central Ohio looking for sites for new townships; when they found no suitable locations within 3 miles of Philadelphia they sent proposals back home Devils Lake Township being one notable exception where commissioners recommended creating a new township there instead In December 1830 commissioners returned with plans for what would eventually become Medina They selected a site near Wright Street which now forms part of downtown Dayton The original name given to this new community may have been Albion because Albion County had been created just two months earlier from parts of Delaware and Meigs counties . Development began immediately upon approval by the board of trustees on January 17th Of course due legal complications caused by nearby factories & churches business owners got wind & lobbied hard so named township after themselves Prescott
Medina was founded in 1795 by the Rev. George Washington and his wife, Martha of Willsboro. Medina is located in Lucas County, Ohio, about midway between the states of Indiana and Ohio. The original village had a population of only 10 people. The first store was built on the banks of the Scioto River. In 1806, Medina became part of the United States after it was granted to Spain by Congress as part of Treaty No. 6. It remained a U.S. village until 1959 when it became an independent community within Lucas County under its own government system with a mayor and councilmember form of government
