By 1840, there were 20 houses in Medina with three stores and one school district office. The Village of Medina was organized on April 16, 1846 by Commissioners Price (from Clinton Township) and Hanks (from Athens Township). On July 1 of that year, all land within its limits became a single village under the name of Medina Village by act of the council.
