Mayfield Heights is a small town in Medina County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,681 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Denmark Mayfield was born on November 14th 1814 in what is now Mayfield Heights. He had two brothers and one sister. Denmark started school in 1825 and finished high school in 1830. In 1831 he married Anna Beiler and they moved to Delaware Township where he grew up until his death on October 6th 1895. Denmark may have been the first white person to live in what is now Mayfield Heights when he moved there from Delaware Township on November 14th 1814 with his brother Danish and their parents Jens (Jensen) and Mette (Mette). Anna Beiler was born December 12th 1787 in Fayette County, Kentucky to John Beiler Jr., an early settler, and Catharine (Crawford) Beiler. She married Denmark Mayfield on October 6th 1831 at St Mary's Church located near present-day Dutchmansville after meeting him while serving as a domestic servant for her father-in-law Daniel Crawford who also lived there at the time. They had four children: Anna (1832-1915), Denmark Jr.(1835-1896), Leah (1838-1911) and Julius Caesar(1840-1920). During their time living in Delaware Township they built a house which still stands today known as "The White House". When Anna died giving birth to her fourth child she left all of her property including "The White House" to her husband before passing away on January 10th 1903 after many years of service thereto; it then passed through three families before reaching its current owners who purchased it from them in 1978. The community has experienced significant growth over the years due largely to its proximity to Dayton proper as well as potential business opportunities related thereto since incorporation; examples include A & L Fabrication Incorporated having relocated here from Cincinnati following World War II providing employment for many local residents during that time period; marketing company Procter & Gamble having established itself here beginning operations in 1951 prior to moving across town later that same year into new facilities nearby; numerous other businesses being founded or expanding within close vicinity over ensuing decades including several strip mall/business development projects currently underway adjacent thereto encompassing much of neighboring Medina County - all without any assistance whatsoever from either side emanating from either municipality! Mayfield Heights was a village in Hamilton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,057 at the 2000 census. It is now part of the Akron metropolitan area. The village was founded in 1825 by families from Mayfield Township and moved to its current location on the west side of town in 1829. The first post office opened in 1830. In 1836, Mayfield Heights incorporated as a village. On June 15, 1945, Mayfield Heights merged with neighboring Uniontown to form the larger city of Akron. Mayfield Heights is located at (41°27′5″N 81°1′2″W). The racial makeup of the village at the 2000 census was 96% White and 2% Black or African American. According to the 2010 census, 78% of its residents are Hispanic or Latino and 24% are Asian American; all these percentages have increased since 2000 when they were only 6%.
Mayfield Heights was founded in 1836 by Squire Mayfield and his wife, Harriet. The town was named for Majestic Mayflower, the first ship to land on American soil. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s, thanks in part to its natural resources - including coal and timber - as well as its location on the main road between Cleveland and Akron. By the 1860s, Mayfield Heights had a population of over 1,000 people. Although it remained a small community until after World War II when it exploded in population due to immigration from Europe, Mayfield Heights is officially recognized as an internationally known village by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
