Mayfield Heights is a town in Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,715 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of Muskingum County and east of Cleveland. The Muskingum River forms the town's eastern border. The first settlers in Mayfield Heights were three men, James McDowell, David Wilson and John Mayfield, who arrived in 1796 from Virginia. They built a log cabin on the present-day site of upper Southgate Road. In 1803 they donated land to build what would become Mayfield Heights Schoolhouse and Cemetery. The first post office was established in 1805 at Upper Southgate Road and Cooksfort Avenue (the name changed to Mayfield Heights in 1835). By 1830 there were six families living in Mayfield Heights: the McDowells, Wilsons, Browns, Millers, Harveys and Potters. In 1830 John Matson founded Eatonville Township which Lies adjacent to Mayfield Heights on the Scioto River. In 1834 he sold his land to George Aiken for $1 million dollars The first school was opened in this township on November 1st of that year by Mr. Aiken with 24 students attending morning classes until December 14th when it closed due to bad weather conditions On February 10th 1840 Mrs Cuyahoga County Court decided that because there had been no request for annexation from any part of the county since 1800 no new towns had been created since then so Eatonville Township should be annexed into Muskingum County . On March 2nd 1840 after much backandforth negotiation a written agreement was reached between both parties whereby Eatonville Township became an official part of Muskingum County . That same day Mrs Cuyahoga County Court approved an ordinance granting voting rights to citizens of newly formed townships within their respective counties as long as they paid property taxes . This event made Eatonville Township one of only two villages (the other being CanFIELD) within Ohio without full municipal government while still having full taxing privileges

Mayfield Heights, Ohio is a town located in Steuben County, Ohio, United States. The population was 9,753 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Mayfield Heights was John Mayfield and his family who arrived in 1788. They were followed by others over time until the community had a total of twelve families in 1814 when it became an agricultural village. In 1836, Mayfield Heights became a city with its own government and street names. In 1907, Mayfield Heights passed an act to annex Euclid Township which included most of what is now Mayfield Heights. The annexation created larger schools and other civic amenities for the new townspeople. By 1920, all but one of the original twelve families had died and today only two remain living within the boundaries of their old home communities - Quaker Ridge Estates and White Sands Beach Clubhouse - both still managed by descendants of those early settlers. The first post office in town was established on July 5th, 1836 under the name Huntingdonville (later changed to Euclid). The first postmaster was Amos Nourse who served until 1840 when he was replaced by Elisha Sheppard Jr.. The second post office opened on November 10th 1840 under the name Huntingdonville again becoming known as Euclid after that year’s annexation into Mayfields Township which coincided with this change from Huntingdonville to Euclid Post Office status. A third post office called Greenlawn opened on January 1st 1850 serving residents of adjacent townships including Northumberland (now Hudson) before being discontinued on October 16th 1870 due to low mail volume combined with increasingdistance travel for settlers over this period; however Greenlawn’s remains are still visible as a contributing property feature off South Main Street in downtown Euclid today! Today there are three main shopping areas – Downtown Euclid/Quaker Ridge Estates; West Side Village; and East Side Village – each with its own unique atmosphere that encompasses many years of growth and development: Downtown Euclid has been continuously reinventing itself since its creation more than sixty years ago as one of the largest concentrations of retail stores anywhere within five miles radius including major chains such as Macy’s®, Sears®, JCPenney®, Applebees®, Dillards(), Kmart® etc., along with numerous smaller mom-and-pop businesses added throughout that time while also retaining much historical charm including original architecture dating back to 1800′s! In addition to continued growth & development inside & outside downtownEuclid there has been significant redevelopment taking place throughout portions Of West Side Village where several high-end restaurants have moved into new locations exclaimed “the bestrestaurantsin centralOhio” while heavy manufacturing once done locally closed or relocated elsewhere resulting in some great neighborhoods attracting young professionals / empty nesters looking for something different having made significant investment these past few decades! Finally East Side Village continues experiencing strong housing demand from recent immigrants from various parts around the world making it an attractive choice for long term residency or vacation rental opportunities!
