The Mayfield Heights Rifle and Pistol Club was organized in 1892. The club met at the home of Mrs. Isaac Wickersham. The first meeting was held on July 15th and pistols were firing demonstrations with Mr. Wickersham as club president. The first post office in Mayfield Heights was established on October 17, 1896 with Elisha Dyson as the first mail carrier.

Mayfield Heights is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio, located along the Scioto River. The population was 9,653 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Columbus metropolitan area. A post office called Mayfield Heights was established in 1828, and remained in operation until it closed in 1902. The name may be derived from an Indian word meaning "farmstead on high ground." The first settler arrived in 1793 and named his home Mayfield after its location on high ground near where he lived. In 1824, another pioneer, James Boydell, purchased land adjacent to what is now Mayfield Heights and built a house there which still stands today. In 1829, John Fenton moved to Mayfield Heights from Springfield Township and took up residence there with his family (Fenton later became a Justice of the Peace). He organized a meeting to decide upon the nomination of candidates for township trusteeship which resulted in the founding of Mayfield Township trusteeship; this event is also recognized by local residents as their first election season. In 1831, Peter Neely purchased some adjoining property from John Fenton and erected a log cabin which still stands today as part of Neely's farmstead complex known as Three Gables Farmstead Park located about 3 miles northwest of downtown Columbus off I-670 exit 191B/Ohio State Route 671E (now US-127/SR-721E). Neely served as Township Treasurer from 1831 to 1840 and 1840 to 1841; he also taught school for many years at his home until it burned down in 1865. In 1846 Samuel Morse moved into what is now Mayfield Heights and set up shop making transistors for some early experts including Drs Thomas Edison and George Stephenson who used them at various sites around America before they finally built their own factory near West Point township limits back then called Erie County () but eventually renamed Edison National Laboratory outside Newark NJ.) In 1850s following passage through 4th amendment power grab by President Buchanan – new allen keyed pistol manufacturing stopped due to manufactured pistols having too many parts & required 5% proof testing prior serialization w/Certificate Of Origin [ comic book ] – Samuel Morse started production anew under new name Spring Valley Arsenal & Machine Works Incorporated (& continued manufacture here until 1911) After Greenback party lost election in 1912 Congressman James Akins came thru Dayton OH., visited plant & ordered 1 million handguns made– gun control movement began! MayFIELD HEIGHTS SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 was organized effective date Nov 1st 1915 when consolidation approved by voters via referendum #562 majority yes with respect to boundaries change from 2 townships into one school district On November 15th 1915 voters approved by referendum Boundaries changes proposed by School Board resulting in creation of MAYFIELD HEIGHTS SCHOOL DISTRICT #1 consisting of: NORTH MAYFIELD (includes portions east side of Scioto River), SOUTH MAYFIELD (includes portions west side of Scioto River), EAST JONESBURY (includes portions south sideof Scioto River), WEST POINT TOWNSHIP LIMITS ( INCLUDES portion north sideof Scioto River ), AND MASSACHUSETTS BAY CREEK ROAD NEAR UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK AT PEMBROKE HILL(excludes portion west sideOf river between University Boulevardand Massachussetts Bay Road) . On November 15th 2015 Trustees Adopted Resolution establishingDistrict boundaries hereinabove noted .) At this time District boundaries were defined based upon blocks withinmayfields Schools areas shown on attached map below .)

In 1826, Mayfield Heights became the county seat of Licking County. It remained that way until 1935 when Vestavia Hills was established as the county seat. Today, Mayfield Heights is a residential neighborhood located within the boundaries of Bedford Township in Licking County, Ohio. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Mayfield Heights were farmers who came from North Carolina in search of a more fertile land than their predecessors had found in their region. By 1800, John Mayfield and his family had settled there and began farming the land that would eventually become part of present-day Mayfield Heights. For many years, JohnMayfield operated a sawmill on the river near present-day home number 5 while also raising livestock and selling goods at local markets throughout Licking County. In 1792, JohnMayFIELD married Judith (née Brown). They set up housekeeping right away with only 8 children but soon started trading goods with other settlements along the Scioto River for food and other supplies they needed for their growing community. By 1800 they had acquired some 400 acres (16 km2) inside what is now present day Bedford Township which they used to farm their remaining acreage as well as build new homes and businesses including a store, blacksmith shop, post office and schoolhouse all within one mile (1 km) of each other on Main Street in what is now known as "The Village."
