He soon built several homes in town which are still standing including One Hundred Thirty Sixth Street (now called Morse Drive), Second Avenue (now Third Avenue), Fourth Street (formerly known as Farmer’s Walk), Hubbard Avenue (now First Street), Old Main Road (now North Main Street) and Elmwood Place (later changed to Elmwood Drive). In 1840, John Mayfield's son-in-law James Kapp purchased some land northeast of town from Andrew Drake for $500; this parcel became known as Kapp Park after him and his wife Julia bought it in 1865 from James Kapp's widow Anna Bramlett for $1,000 (). After purchasing additional property adjacent to Kapp Park over time through gift or purchase it has become most notably Brushy Top Golf Course located adjacent to Interstate 71 exit 172 off I-71 about 2 miles south of where the original house once stood next door to current day Paul Revere Elementary School across street from Brushy Top Golf Course
